Not calling you wrong or anything, but the Kings did the one game at a time thing for every game for the first half of the season. It failed miserably and the team was bereft of anything resembling confidence. It's probably in their best interests to proceed with this attitude given prior events this season which didn't turn out to their benefit because they were being led into battle by an emotionless coach.
If any of the Canucks did say anything like Jeff Carter has though, you're right, people would be ripping them to shreds. Kind of an unfair double standard that such a thing would happen, but it's true.
Oh, it's absolutely true. The server load from hf would be causing brownouts all the way up and down the coast.
I wouldn't say cocky, just confident. Fine line but they're walking it well. I think they gotta be confident. I wouldn't blame them or laugh at them at all. Just put yourself in their shoes. Would you not have the belief in your 8th place team? I say good on them, but still hope the Kings go down.
It's just the Canucks are labelled as cocky and arrogant if they're confident, and Kings are labelled the plucky go-getters if they're confident.

Quick has had 12 playoff starts and has allowed 4 or more goals in 5 of them. Luongo started 24 games last spring/summer and only had 6 games with 4 or more goals allowed. Quick's only been in 2 games where he's allowed 1 goal or less. 17 games for Luongo where he's allowed 1 goal or less.
The Kings really do not have any advantages in this series.
Double standards really is the key phrase in this series and when comparing some of these players. Really curious as to what'll happen to Quick's reputation if he loses spectacularly again.

small sample size for those stats. but even i dont think you could say quick is going to win the series when he hasnt proven anything in playoffs
Though it's true that Quick has much to prove, you can't blame the 2 playoff losses all on him. The defense completely abandoned Terry Murray's system both times and it was a free for all in front of the net. If you remember, Quick played extremely well in the first two games in Vancouver last time. He also had a shutout and a 51 save performance (both wins) in San Jose last year.

He was great in the first two games against Vancouver until they figured him out. I just don't see how an unexperienced goalie who has done about as bad as you can, be thought of as better than Luongo. Luongo, at his worst, was Jonathan Quick in his first 2 rounds.

luongo at his worst is hawks/boston series. goal after goal

Because clearly, past performance is the final say and absolute indicator of future results.
You are criminally underrating the strides Quick has taken, but I assure you your team is not.
It's funny that the Kings players think the Canucks are a huge rival.
How cute.
Just like the Hawks thought of us, until last playoffs perhaps? This happens when one team loses.

I see nothing from the Kings that suggest they have that extra gear. I was at that last game between the two teams, and the Kings looked slow and didn't have any sort of push even though they were fighting for the playoff lives at the time.
You can throw regular season stats and streaks out the window. Past playoff performance is the best indicator on how a team is going to do in the playoffs. Upsets usually occur in the first round if the either the top seed is a playoff rookie or the 8th seed is a playoff veteran. The Kings are not going up against St. Louis or New York Rangers where there are unknowns as to how those teams are going to play in the playoffs. The fact the Kings (a playoff rookie)are going up against a team that never gone out in the first round in the last 4 playoff seasons and went to the finals last year makes an upset even more unlikely.
I watched the last game between the Kings and the Sharks. You can tell that there was playoff intensity from both teams, it was unusual for a regular season game. The only prize on the line was the winner didn't have to play the Canucks. That game was worth a thousand words.
I think the only way the Kings win this series is if Quick plays lights out and the Canucks don't play to their potential.
Canucks in 5
Great post, even though Kings fans dont like it probably. Canucks went through their 'learn to win by losing' phase but the Kings may not have yet.
I also watched the Sharks over powering the Kings in the last game of the regular season. It was supposed to be a statement game, after all?
If it's Kesler versus Nashville version 2.0 this series is over in 4. If the Kings can stop Kesler, and the Sedins, manage to find goals from unlikely sources, and Quick plays solid, they have a shot at an upset.
