With the playoffs beginning tomorrow, what better place to discuss the first round matchups and the games within than this thread?
Serious predictions this time, rather than who I want to win:
Canucks in 6
Blues in 6
Blackhawks in 7
Predators in 7
Rangers in 6
Bruins in 6
Devils in 6
Penguins in 7
Possible storylines:
Can Quick or Smith steal a series for their respective teams?
Will anybody watch the Devils-Panthers series?
Which division provides a better #4/#5 playoff series, Central or Atlantic?
Sticky requested for the duration of the first round, if possible.

Quick will fall short but Smith will bring the Yotes to the second round.
No.
And this is the one I'm stumped on. Both 4/5's are going to be SO good.
I honestly think either team can win ANY of the four Eastern matchups. Ottawa's a GOOD 8, Boston's a bad 2, and NJ's better than Florida, but Florida gets home-ice, evening that out a little as well.
As far as the west is concerned, I don't see too much of a possibility of SJ or LA winning. The other two series are going to be VERY fun to watch.
So, the way I see it, 6 out of 8 series are going to be up in the air, which makes for a VERY exciting first round!

I asked my friend (Blackhawks fan) which of SJ/LA/Phoenix he'd prefer to have the Blackhawks play back before the series were determined, and he said he'd rather play LA or Phoenix than San Jose. I was appalled by his lack of concern about Smith and Quick. He still stood by his claims even after I reminded him about Smith's domination the last couple of weeks of the season.
Boone cable has stopped carrying NBC sports network as of this year so I won't be seeing any games until the conference finals at least
Do you get CNBC? If so, you can catch whatever games get placed on there for the beginning of the playoffs. Looks to be Detroit-Nashville and St. Louis-San Jose for games 1, 2, and 5 with a switch to Phoenix-Chicago and New York-Ottawa for games 3 and 4.
Canucks over LA. LA has the worst offense in the League, playing tight playoff hockey against an experienced team won't help them.
San Jose over St. Louis, scoring by committee seems to falter in the playoffs.
Phoenix over Chicago, Corey Crawford is a sieve, and Ray Emery isn't much better.
Nashville over Detroit, Nashville is gunning for it all this year, and with the addition of Radulov they finally have that true offensive foci that can be depended on to score.
New York over Ottawa, with the added bonus of Karlsson going a minus 10 in the playoffs (expect at least 5 threads per game focused on this topic alone).
Washington over Boston, Tim Thomas was a workhorse in the regular season, but I question how his body will hold up coming off a brutal season and a long playoffs run, If he is replaced by Tuuka Rask it will be done too late.
Florida over New Jersey. Jersey seems to enjoy crapping the bed in the playoffs.
Philadelphia over Pittsburgh. I actually think Pittsburgh is the better team, but I have a sinking feeling that someone on Philly is going to target Crosby and knock him out of the series. If Crosby is in, then Pittsburgh wins.

Agree. 4 games to 1 for Vancouver. Sweep alert, it could happen.

It's the Sharks. Blues in 6.

I'm pulling for Phoenix here, but I'll go with Chicago in 7.

ok, i need help watching. i have gamecenter, and obviously playoffs being nationally broadcast causes an issue. if i find a way around it, is gamecenter showing the games? id hate to find a way around using a proxy server of some kind just to find they arent showing them.
Is anyone else doing this? anyone else have a good way that works? considering sucking it up and trying hockeystreams for playoffs. does paying for a vpn work on gamecenter? anyone know a good one? id prefer to find a way to get gamecenter to work so i could use the dvr function. i know this exists for hockey streams as well. any of you guys have experience with this?
My gf is going to hate me until July! She thought is was bad during regular season.
Van in 4
STL in 5
Chi in 7
Det in 7 (pulling for the Preds)
NYR in 4
Bos in 4
NJ in 5
Pit in 7 - No way the Pens/Flyers series going less than 7.
Uhhhh....three sweeps? Really? The only one I could see being a sweep is the Vancouver series, honestly. But I feel that Quick will steal a couple of games. The other two I could easily see Ottawa and Washington winning a couple of games.

Van was the only one I was thinking wouldn't be but could be. The other two, just have this gut feeling Wash and Ott flop.
The Flyers should hire Gregg Williams as a defensive consultant. Lord knows he'll never coach football again, and as an added plus, I think he'd fit right in in Philly
