Turned on Vancouver game after getting home from my own game with the volume low. Heard the announcer say "none provided". Son of a ***** stole Forslunds line.
I would bet we are going to get our wish of seeing how Suter will do without Weber for the next couple of games.
Though you have to appreciate the line Shannahan is walking. On the one hand, it's total bush league. On the other, Weber is their Preds captain and best player. Taking him out for even 2 games will probably damn the Preds to losing the series.
That was a great night of hockey all around. Flyers coming back from 3 down taking it in OT. Kings beating Vancouver with Richards trolling. And the Preds taking down Detroit. Couldn't be happier with those outcomes.
As far as Weber, McKenzie feels he won't be suspended:

But Weber-Zetterberg will be reviewed but I suspect Gaustad's hack on Datsyuk at same time will be reveiwed too. Review may not = hearing
But he does think Bitz will be the one suspended if any are:

Amen to all of that. The Kings just flat out smash mouthing Vancouver was a thing of beauty, and the Pens blowing a 3-0 lead to overtime fail... couldn't have scripted it better myself.
I don't think it's fair that the Kings have the 8th seed. Ever since the got Carter back with Richards they have been much better in scoring. I really see that series as more of a 4/5 than a 1/8. Especially since the Canucks are without D. Sedin.

Also I want the Canucks to win. There I said it.
Same thing happened with the Oilers in 06. They may have been an 8 seed, but when they added Samsonov, Spacek, and Roloson at the deadline they went from being a 7-8 seed type team to a 4 seed type team.

Maybe Henrik should learn to play without his brother and it would't be such a big lose. You lose one you lose both
Is it just me or should the max fine be much higher? Weber loses $2500 for a blatant shot to the head, but Torts loses almost ten times that amount for cursing in an interview?
Funny thing about the Kings I heard during the game last nite. Ya'll know they lost six games this season 1-0, and eleven 2-1?
That's crazy, 10 more goals and they'd prolly have contended for a president's trophy.
Yeah, Quick was literally carrying that team pre-trade deadline. It's not often that a goalie's going to lose multiple games giving up 2 or less goals. To compare, I believe Fleury's won about the same amount after giving up 3 or more goals.
I think part of it is the style of play also. Quick was fantastic, but they were 2nd in the NHL for GA/Game and 5th in the league for Shots Against as well. So they are trading off offense for defense (and admittedly, their offense struggled at times independent of that).
That could bode well for them (and teams like St. Louis) in the playoffs when the games tend to be much closer and a more tight checking game.
Regarding the no suspension, I am very confused. Weber was clearly trying to "punish" Zetterberg and forcibly threw his head into the glass. Not to mention it was away from the puck and after the game had ended. I thought this was the type of play the NHL wanted to get rid of. It is pretty ridiculous for him to only get a fine out of that. If I were Weber, I would watch my ass every second for the rest of the series because he got away with some real dirty **** there. Playoffs or no playoffs, it was dirty and stupid. You don't back for a player based on the time of year he did it. Goals count the same, periods have the same length, same number of players are allowed on the ice.
