WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

End. Of. Discussion.

If the best young players on the planet want to test their skills and get accustomed to the North American game, they might as well go to the CHL.

I honestly could see it happening. I dont want it to happen, I think its the wrong move, but its very plausible. But I also wouldn't put too much stock into this yet, I'm not sure how reliable this source is.

They are banning goalies next year so it only makes sense that they ban all Euro imports. It's going to happen sooner than we think. I don't agree with it but its not fair for only goalies to be banned from the CHL.

The kids just come over a year early, get citizenship, play somewhere for a year, then get drafted in the OHL (or WHL/Q) Priority drafts.

Or they start to find the USHL* a more attractive league to play in.

*I'm assuming the USHL sees the error of the CHL ways and will make appropriate rule changes if necessary.

Ya I'd like to see more opportunities for local guys as much as the next fan, but lowering the bar competition wise? This won't end well.

If CHL clubs pay money (development fee) for Euros, I have no problem. If CHL clubs does not pay money for Euros, I have a problem.

Look at basketball or soccer rules about development fee. Btw, international transfers of U18 players in basketball/soccer are limited/banned. Hockey Canada bans its U18 players to play abroad as well.

Another solid move by David Branch. The dude couldn't organize a two-car funeral. I am sure there are still some out there that support the dinosaur.

Did you miss the '' or are you really that bigoted?

Shall we also have players prove their Canadian ancestry back a number of generations as well?

I don't care what you think, it's my opinion...I'd rather develop Canadian hockey players instead of bringing in foreign players, Lets give more Canadian kids a chance to play.

Well I respect everyones opinion, and as a far away fan, I feel a little cheeky being critical of anyone here, but ...wow....lol What is everyone scared of?

I could understand if the CHL was in-undated with Imports, but it simply isnt---2 imports per team....and only then, "if" (and sometimes a Big If) if they adapt, they can keep their place.

Windsor are one of my favourite OHL teams because of the high quality imports they usually bring in, but lets say if Khoklachev had been "banned" from playing, someone would of course would have taken his place, but a lesser standard of player.
So should teams ice the best 18 players available, or would they prefer, the best 16 players, plus 2 chums?
lol
What next, no Wins or Losses recorded, everyone gets a point for "trying really hard"...lol....like watching an episode of Barney the Purple Dinasaour...lol
No winners or losers, but everyone gets a "badge" and "group hug"..lol

The great Canadian kids still come through....Hoo Sang, for instance, makes the team whether Koko was there or not...
Surely the CHL aims to be the very best league in the World, that despite not being a pro league, is still a a money making venture.

Banning the 2 Imports is a solution to a problem that dosnt even exist?
Its like bricking up your homes windows and doors to prevent burglars.
I take it that this stems from the U-20 outrage?
Is the Canadian media blaming the Imports for the demise?
Sometimes, your team simply "dosnt win", but especially when the home media anoints your team as "champions" before a puck has been dropped.
The media pressure on its own kids, as well as poking every other team before the event (which is the best motivation for any opposition) creates a bigger disadvantage, than any import.

Your taking out two top flight players, and replacing them with guys from Junior A/AAA who aren't good enough to make Major Junior today. That lowers the standard of competition, and isn't good for anyone - owners, players, spectators alike.

If the European element bothers you that much, go check out a Lasalle Vipers or Leamington Flyers game, or even a Jr C game (Go 73s! ). Junior A (AAA), B (AA), and C (A) don't allow European imports, and they provide good, spectator grade hockey. Certainly not as good as Major Junior, but they're not meant to.

Ah, you beat me to it!

Like Ward mentioned, I think the USHL is licking their chops in hopes the CHL bans Europeans. This could really blow up in the CHL's face.

Well said. I'd rather see another Yakupov fill a roster spot over a Canadian who would be a fringe OHL'er.

Even though there's American franchises within the league? I take it you'd like them to vanish, too. An odd stance considering your favorite team goes after/and is often successful at bringing big name American's into the fold.

The vast majority of the top Euro players stay home anyway. This isn't a big deal, nor would it make a big difference either way.

I no and I hate the spits taking so many gambles on Americans who usually are up in the air if they want to come to the OHL or go the NCAA route
