My 2 cents, Edm. wants Murray, winning the lotto just puts them in a better position to get what they wanted but pluss +++. they will get Murray and maybe another first rounder if they give up Nail, Murray will be a leader in the future and why does Edm. need another first round forward? Leafs should not sell the farm to get Nail, that deal I think is on the table and in disscussion as we play GM right now. Let's be happy for what we get in our pick. Still some talent left and we might get our center and goalie through the FA or trades, again my 2 cents.

I love Gardiner as much as the next guy, but if we can get to #1 with Gardiner and the #5, I think I do that deal. It would be tough to part with a prospect like Gardiner, but Yakupov will likely be our franchise for the next decade and a half. Flame away, but to get a talent like Yakupov, you've gotta give something up. And no, Luke Schenn is not that something.

That said, I don't think that gets the deal done. I'd rather try to get that second pick out of Columbus at a much lower cost, or just go with the #5 and take the BPA.

I don't think the Leafs are interested in getting the 1st pick anyway. Nail is a great prospect and will likely be an impact player in the NHL but he doesn't fill a positional need for us, so why go through the trouble of obtaining him? We already have a young dynamic winger in Kessel.

I'd rather Burke stick with the pick he has and keep our assets and pick 5th. I hope we get one of Galchenyuk, Gaunce or Reinhart all of whom fit the profile of what this team needs.

While that would be interesting, it would surely mean the team is not going to improve next year given the cost of assets it would take to land both of them. I don't think he'll be wanting to do that at this stage of the game.

Our pick this year + Schenn for Edmonton's pick.

Our pick next year + Kadri + Blacker for Islander's pick.

Yeah ,I was kidding

But if we're serious,I think Burke will make some MAJOR move this summer. Just not sure if it's gonna be at the draft.

I dont think i would give up anything. I dont see enough of a difference from 1st - 5th to give up anything significant. Yakupov is a great player, but the leafs have kessel. Yakupov is the kinda player that has a weak defensive game, but incredibly gifted offensively. If we draft Yakupov, Kessel would have to go and thats not happening. Leafs needa get bigger or better at center bottom line. Use the assets that would be given for yakupov on a big body.

Then were going to pick at 5, it goes yakapov, murray/forsberg/gally/grigs then everyone else imo. Galchenyuk+gardiner for yakopov does that make sense for this team? Knowing we need an elite level center not winger?

I wouldn't trade gardiner+5th for 1st for the record

Huge overpayment. Lets not forget Kadri and Blacker are practically NHL ready. The guy at #4 and #5 most likely arent. I dont think you realize how good Kadri and Blacker can be. I mean they are #1 and #3 on the leafs prospect depth chart and we do have the 8th best prospect pool in the league... people are to infatuated with this draft, just an FYI this is the weakest draft in years. Kadri is probably a top 5 pick in this years draft. You can disagree now, but the tune will be different at the end of next season. Not to mention that 2013 draft is supposed to have some incredible talent.

I'm not hating on Kadri or saying we are doing that deal. I'm saying that's something the Islanders would want and that's something it would take for us to get both Yakupov and Gally. That's all. Wasn't a serious bid or anything.

I think that Burke will make a move to try and get the number 1 pick. Maybe Schenn + 2012 first would do it. I'm not sure Burke is willing to give up Schenn though. Edmonton needs a shutdown defenseman and Schenn may be more attractive to them than an 18 year old.

Same..I'm happy where they are right now. If it goes Yakupov, Grigorenko, Galchenyuk, Murray, then I'd be fine with taking a player like Forsberg.

Meh it's all good.

I figure with our pick next year being the question mark, is why the Islanders would be asking for so much from us. Plus I think Snow would love to see something like Kadri - Tavares - Moulson and then having a good puck mover like Blacker without knowing what the pick next year would be.

Take - based on who is available at #5:

1) Gally
or
2) Forsberg

Then you try to pry a late first from another team using our 2nd and a prospect like D'Amigo to pick up Malcolm Subban.

That's a good draft.

With next years draft class being compared to 2003, you don't move that pick under any circumstances - actually, you try and pick up a couple of extra 1st rounders next year without conditions

Depends on how hot the 18 year old is. You know what I'm saying?

On a serious note,if we have a chance to send our pick + Schenn for #1 overall, and Burke doesn't do it,our team is in wrong hands.

I wouldn't give up too much to be honest. We'd only be moving up 4 spots. I would possibly do 5th overall, Franson and maybe another prospect. Tossing in Luke Schenn would not be a step forward. Don't worry, we're going to get a great player at #5.
