The team he grew up with, where he called home for 11 seasons and had all his success, where he once ruled the town and fans (and ladies of all ages) loved him?
OR
The team that paid him millions more then he ever expected to make and sent him to Hartford?
I say he's cheering for Alfie, Big Rig and Ottawa.
We do not need Redden at the expense of Gilroy. We do not need another 30something slow-footed past-his-prime defenseman.
Maybe in another year or two, after Gonchar and Kuba are gone, I wouldn't object to a training camp tryout. I still like the guy. But he has no place on this team right now.
I like to think that Wade is quietly cheering for the snes, but who knows.

Good idea, like Fleury in Calgary so we can see him in a pre-season game and give him a huge standing O.
When his contract expires with NY and if he hasnt played his 1000 games I would offer him a 2 way deal at vet min and allow him a chance to play his 1000th in Ottawa... If his play wasnt worthy of the 6th slot I would allow him to retire or go to the minors...
While it's a nice notion I doubt Redden ever plays hockey in the NHL again, I think he's done & was in his last yr or two in Ottawa. I also think he is cheering for Ottawa because this is where he had his best yrs & the Rangers afterall are the ones that crushed his dream & humiliated him by sending him to the minors.
Wow a Redden thread really? It was a slow week waiting for Game 1, damn!
But to stay on topic, I'd sure as hell hope he'd cheer for the team where he had ALL of his NHL success and loved the city. He still has quite a few ties to Ottawa and has been seen at a couple playoff games over the years.
I wish him well, always will have a soft spot for the guy that was a rock on the blueline for a decade and was one the best d-men in the league for a few years.
