Chris Stewart and Dustin Brown would definitely bring some grit, skill and toughness to this team. Those are two players I hope Burke is targeting.

St. Louis fans keep repeating Stewart is not nearly gritty enough. Perception =/ Reality

I think people might be giving up on Armdog too quickly. did he have an awful season? Yes! But he was hit hard with a couple of bad injuries.

Remember how everybody used to say "look at our record with him in the lineup compared to it without him"? Well fact is, that wasn't that long ago.

Up until he came here, he wasn't an injury prone player. He has another year on his contract, so assuming he comes into camp next year at 100% health, we may have one of our four big and hard to play against players.

You probably had a senior moment and meant "Phaneufs".

I expect the Rangers to be favorites to land Nash, depending on how their playoff run goes. They may relent and deal Del Zotto, if not Leafs may have to part with Gardiner as their centerpiece. I believe Schenn will have a much better season next year, and may finally silence the trade talk. If the Leafs do draft Dumba, Troumba, Murray, it will offset the loss of Gardiner. With still Blacker, Percy and Holzer to come.

Never underestimate Burkes desperation. If he dangles that fifth overall, +++ they may take our offer.

It's a calculated gamble but if we part with a 1st, I would dangle the 2013 one.

I'd be fine with a checking line of Kulemin -- Grabovski -- Armstrong. Grabovski said this year he plays better when focusing on playing good defence, this would be his chance. Go head-to-head with the other teams top lines, so their minutes won't be reduced, and as a bonus put the puck in the back of the net on occasion.

I can't see Burke painting himself into a corner and trading mostly futures for Nash. If the Leafs are in on Nash a fairly high salary has to be going the other way (Schenn?), or the Leafs will be in Cap hell.

Lupul and Kuli are both fine size-wise, although neither of them are particularly "truculent".

Same message he had the last 4 years. Yet the team on the ice is the exact opposite.

IMO this is what would happen:

Keep:
Schenn
Phaneuf
Liles
Gunnar(maybe)
Gardiner
Franson(maybe)
Lupul
Kessel
Grabo
Kulie
Mac
Reimer
Ashton
Frattin

Everyone else could be traded. As much as kadri is tough and gritty ( im talking about his nhl hits so don't think i'm lurking around his junior years) one of his defiencies is tht he's not strong enough. He can easily be thrown of the puck and isn't that stable on his skates. But, i hope he wont be traded because he has heart and skill and toughness. I would hate to see him leave before the year that should be his breakout year.

You want our best centre on a checking line? While paying him 5.5 a year?

Carlyle loves matching lines, as it was showed at the end of the year.

Grabovski's line was often out against the top lines of the opposing team this year.

At this point Burke is going to circles. You can clearly see him in the presser and he looks exhausted and defeated.

Unless he is willing to put Gardiner in a deal, don't expect much. He may add some more 3rd line garbage like he did last summer. That is the problem with this team, too many overpaid 3rd/4th liners! We have 4th liners making 4.75/year. Its a joke.

Without any good assets, how does he expect to land that top 3/franchise player. This is the team Burke built! He can not complain. Its his fingerprint all over it.

Let's hope Leafs can grab Tom Wilson at #35. This 2nd rd pick is just as important as #5 IMO. Many Cup champs can attest to this.

If he's shutting down the other teams best players, and playing the same amount of minutes then yes.

I would rather Grabovski playing 16-20 minutes per night vs. Crosby/Giroux/etc. then Steckel.

Carlyle is going to line match, I would prefer players we currently have, two way players rather then having to go out and getting Gaustad/Moen/etc.

Penner could be available cheap this summer...plays LW/RW.

As for a number one centre, Stastny is the only guy I can see being available that fits the mold. Dater which is a Colorado writer sees him as being available as well.
