Linus Omark voicing desire to be traded via Twitter
I'm hoping we can move Omark + a pick for Schultz's rights. I bear him no ill will. He's a guy that never got a shot here and us winning the lottery cements him not having a spot next year.Best of luck to him wherever he ends up(unless it is within the division of course).
If he can add a bit more speed to his top gear, he could be a dynamic top 6 winger for a team who can take people out of their seats. His hands are magic and he's incredibly clever and inventive. He's also surprisingly good, especially for a guy of his size, at holding off bigger checkers using leg strength, balance, elusiveness and faster hands. Even defensively he wasn't looking like a train wreck any more during the handful of games he got in here this season. Some team lacking offensive wingers could find an unpolished gem in him.
Meh. Best of luck with another organization. He has skills which could see him being a legit NHLer. He hasn't come close to putting it all together though.
7th rounder or waiver wire. Don't really care at this point.

If he's looking for the Oilers to do him any favors, he'd better hope this isn't the first the Edmonton brass is hearing about this. That's like firing/dumping someone on e-mail or by text.
Well, I think we could give him a shot if the price was low, but I don't know how he'd fit into the Wild's expected lineup this year or into the future:
Unless we don't retain Latendresse, write Bouchard off as not going to play, and have no faith in any prospects other than Granlund earning a top 6 spot with the big club, we could only fit him in as a 13th forward. I'd toss a 7th to Edmonton for him, but I don't know I'd offer much more.
"Linus is an interesting guy. He's young and very skilled. He could probably play on most teams' power play units."
Quote:
"We'll see what happens with Linus. I don't know yet. I like that he's determined to play in the NHL."
Of course, a lot of this could be residual cheer from yesterday's lottery win. You get the feeling a car could run over Tambellini today and he'd chuckle and go "Ah, well, he didn't mean to do it. All is forgiven!"
Not surprised. I know he is just speaking his mind, something i think is refreshing in the time of templated personality, boring hockey players. But sometimes i think his own mouth is a bit to big for his own good. And given, i've voiced my concerns regarding him and his mouth earlier as well.
But despite what some people seem to think he's actually a player with tremendous talent. Most people only seem to acnowlage that he has great hands. But there is more too him than that. However he seemingly has some problems puting it together in the NHL where he is not given as much time or space as he is used to. I think that is something he has tried to work on but it's just not coming together.
And i don't want to bash the Oilers any more since they have goten their fair share of bashing these last 24 hours. So i'll just say that i think that the Oilers were the wrong fit from the get go. He is not the kind of player i see thriving in that organization.
Here is hoping he gets traded and is able to pursue his NHL-dream. Would be a shame to see him go to waste.
Almqvist for Omark straight up?
His greedy year in the KHL cost him. He should have come over when the team wanted him and had no good forwards.
He chases the money, loses a year of development and now has to compete with the big 3 Hall, Eberle and MPS (was good last year).
Then this year he had to compete with RNH and returning fan favorite Ryan Smyth.
Not enough space in the top 6 and he isnt suited for bottom 6 work at all
While he does not fit "Bylsma hockey", i'd take a flier on him. I'm sure we could try 1 or 2 players who do not fit this system. Maybe next season we can go with this as our top 9? i'm assuming he can play LW, i forget...
Stewart would fit our team, not Omark but we would have enough players to cover for Omark's lack of defensive play and laziness. Or so what i always hear of him....

Oh he's not NHL ready yet? then ignore my *hopefull* next seasons lines adding Stewart and Omark.

I'm not sure what assets will be required to get Stewart though. Based on current cap room if we traded a low pick for Omark, resigned him at a cheap contract < 1 mil then we could do this and shop Kennedy (2 Mil) and Martin (5 Mil) for other help:
Losing Sullivan/Kennedy is 3.5 in salary off the forward ranks. Even if Parise is 7 and Omark is one that is a 5.5 addition to the cap on the forward front. Currently the Pens have about 4.5 to spend without the cap going up. If it's projected to go to 69 then there is plenty of room.

Yeah he plays both wings. He's definitely not lazy(although haven't followed him in the AHL, but from past experiences) but he lacks defensive awareness. For a small guy he's not a great skater either, probably why he hasn't found success at the highest level. He's not playing small or soft though.
