Im thinking Roy stays, and we will make a push for one of the top 5 UFAs. Whether we land one or not is the questions.

Is there ANY way that one of the top 3 teams would actually trade that pick for Roy + picks and prospects?

That's a ****ing insane position to take.

You think this team is a contender next year? or do you think they should re-sign Roy?

Who do you think has more value at the deadline if we are out of a playoff spot : Roy or Iginla
Who do you think will provide more leadership, scoring, and "playoff style hockey" if we make the playoffs?

doubt it, no top 5 team wants to move out of a lottery pick

If Buffalo considers moving Vanek minnesota would be involved, they have #7 overall

7 million in cap hit mitigates the difference in point production, and I'd rather have a center than a winger any day. Add to that the difference in age, and it's a polite no. Iginla isn't putting this team over the top.

Wait.... seriously????

This offseason you wouldn't trade Roy for Iginla????

Am I living in crazy land???

What possible rational other then 1 year of center depth?

You would trade Roy to Chicago for a prospect center??? but Not Iginla, who would garner 5x the return Roy would?????

im out.... brain cant comprehend this nonsense

This is the sticking point for me. An elite team might overpay but I don't see the difference you do.

How about something based around Vanek and Marleau? Similar cap hits. San Jose may be willing to shake things up if they get eliminated early.

That gives them Ennis, Hodgson, Marleau, and Roy as center depth. Marleau or Roy can play LW and fill in at center when needed.

add, more goal scoring, more size, more strength, more grit, more leadership, more experience, more of everything this team lacks...

Both are UFA at the end of the year

Sabres make playoffs :
Scenario 1 : w/ Derek Roy
Scenario 2 : w/ Jerome Iginla

Sabres out of playoffs at deadline
Scenario 1 : Derek Roy trade value
Scenario 2 : Jerome Iginla trade value

This fan base boggles my mind

come on man Derek Roy over Jarome Iginla? that isn't even debatable, we are talking a proven 50 goal scorer who can still get 30-40.

Boy, the post season hangover has been pretty tough on a lot of you guys. I've never seen these Boards so illogical and over the edge about so much.

Sure is entertaining though.

(P.S. is the State Mental Hospital still located in Gowanda??? If so, some of you really need to correct your location info in your profile)

Just kidding.......

I was taking umbrage with you calling Iginla a proven 50 goal scorer when he did it all of once.

Why are you setting up such asinine scenarios to argue about.

If Iginla is worth more than 5x Roy at the deadline. How on earth would they be considered equal value this summer enabling Roy to get traded for him?

To start we would have to give:
Buffalo 1st
Nashville 1st
CGY 2nd
Mcnabb
Armia

and I still dont think they even think about it before saying no. At least I wouldnt. Theres no way they should trade Couture, Kid is a Franchise number 1 center. As hard as it is to think the Sabres could trade Myers its even hard to think the Sharks would trade Couture... I dont even know what I would do if we could pull a trade off for Couture without trading away Myers.

agree, if they want Myers we ask for Couture+, if we want Couture they ask for Myers+

players like this don't get traded often if at all.
