Add me to the Ducks fans who do that deal in a heartbeat. 2nd round picks way more often than not do not pan out. I have high hopes for Etem but right now it is only unproven hope. Number 6 overall is nice but still no guarantee of anything. All that for Duchene? Yeah, I'm all over that if I'm the Ducks.
I doubt Etem gets traded, but for a deal like this Murray would be derelict in his duty not to pull the trigger.
Yeah, for the stupidest reason, because he's a local. Etem's great, a terrific player who could be a great one for us for years to come, but Matt Duchene's on another level, and on this team could be a just fantastic pick-up. Any Ducks fan should do that deal in a heartbeat.
Me, Sheen, DuckStudd agree the values not there with the deal it's at 6th overall+Etem+2nd round pick for Duchene. And me and Sheen both agree that Etem will NOT be traded. Only a few of you are in agreement.
I would do it, but I'd adjust the end of the offer. I'd replace the 2nd with a second level prospect like Clark.
That's just fine. You keep your awesome local prospect and we will keep Duchene. #6 overall+Etem wouldn't get it done anyways
no need to get upset bro im just telling people how it is.
I fully understand MD will cost an overpay but the ducks will not move Etem. his value on this board is very underrated if we traded him to the leafs HF would rank him top 15 tomorrow
You will have to add a lot more. And I mean a lot.
I honestly am baffled by some of these proposals. Ask yourself this, (assuming you were a Flyers fan) would you trade Schenn and Hartnell for the 6th overall pick and Cogliano?

If Murray could get Duchene by moving Etem, he would do it in a heartbeat. Don't kid yourself. As much as the Anaheim organization might like Etem, that's a sacrifice you make, because Duchene would just be the more valuable player. It's that simple.
very nice i think both sides like it and hope this deal really gets done from buffalo POV bc we need to move up for a center. could then trade the 6th to move into the top 5. Anaheim gets there 2nd line center for ryan and only move 6 places back and can still draft a good player or make another move. It also starts the domino effect of the Sabres core being traded
Sorry some of my fellow Ducks fans, but I don't get your reasoning. You're looking for players who other teams are VERY unlikely to trade.
Going back to 2004, guess who's the best forward selected 6th overall since then? Sam Gagner, the one everyone is so unwilling to have. What makes you think our 6th overall pick is gonna give us a young established top six center like Matt Duchene? You'll have to go back to 2003 to find a 6th overall pick (forward) better than Gagner (Milan Michalek) and a little longer to find Mikko Koivu... Derrick Brassard, Gilbert Brule and Nikita Filatov are the other #6 overall picks in recent years (jury is still out on Connolly).
In fact, usually a #6th overall pick is what you wish will turn into a 2nd line center. Sam Gagner is a well established 45-50 point center and still only 22 years of age, I wouldn't give the 6th overall for him but he's defenitely a 2nd line center. I wouldn't mind either Grabovski, Plekanec or Roy.
But I don't think Burke is the kind of guy who trades players he just re-signed and I don't like the lenght of Plekanec's and Roy's contracts, one is a year or two too long and the other one expires too soon. I'd trade our 6th overall for Plekanec if they added a little or I'd trade Bonino, this years 2nd rounder and the first round pick in 2013 for Roy.

He would
but ownership would squash it
I can guarantee you this

I think if someone is trading for the 6th it's probably because they're looking to take a defenseman after the frenzy in the top 5 eats away at all/most of the forwards. Hell, if we use the pick, I expect it to be on a defenseman or a reach. I doubt we're moving the pick, but it's nice to see what kind of options might be out there.
Doesnt change the fact that he is UFA same as too many core. No
It's a trade back of six spots. Even if he walked, having a legit second line center for one season should be worth what we're giving up on, and we're still walking with a mid-round prospect. If we're a spot or two higher, then I'd agree that it's easy to say no to. It just seems rash to turn that down outright.
Based on what? how controlling our owners have been i9n the past?
Because a minority, local possible star is something that they can market and sell tickets with after Selanne is gone, of course it banks on Etem being the real deal.....bottom line, Etem won't be traded any time soon
