I know that Toronto's odds for winning the lottery were low to begin with, but now that we know for sure we will be drafting #5 will Burke deal the pick? If there is no chance to get Yakupov, Grigorenko or Galchenyuk (which will most likely happen) as they will be drafted 1,2,3... Does Burke try to move the pick? I don't see him drafting Forsberg whatsoever.
Any chance that he packages the pick with other assets to try to land that established big #1 C or a player like Nash?
If he does package the pick, who would you package it with and for who? What do you guys think!

Not unless he moves up, I'd say threre is no chance otherwise.
I can't believe everyone is ignoring Brendan Gaunce , we need a big power center and he's the biggest kid in the draft and he will be available when we pick . You guys really want a puny band aid euro player over a big tough Canadian boy ?

i said not moving, but idk if there is a deal in place he woudl make it... that being said we are going to pick in the top 5, whether its 5th or something else.

ya i definately want a david backes/second third line grinder over a marian hossa malkin lite...
If he can package the pick in a trade to get Getzlaf, then I think he'll pull the trigger... and rightly so, imo. I'm not saying that Getzlaf can be had, but if he is available, you have to think Burke will be all over that.
The only two scenarios where I could see him trading the pick are 1) if he can work out a deal with CBJ to move up to #2nd overall and take either Grigorenko or Galchenyuk and 2) if Yakupov, Grigorenko, Galchenyuk and Murray all go top 4 and Burke decides to trade down for Faksa or Girgensons instead of taking Forsberg or Dumba.
I'm sure Burke would trade our first pick in a heartbeat if it part of a deal for a young #1 center but I doubt there will be any available.
He better not. The most I think he'll do with that pick is try to move up a bit to make sure he gets the forward he wants out of the top 5. Otherwise I think he'll hold still with it. Think the last thing Burke needs is fans ready to lynch him after he traded another high first round pick.
Burke will run into Penner at an all you can eat pancake content in the off-season, and take note of the strong commitment and dedication he has towards winning the competition. He will then trade the first for Penner at the draft, straight up. Done deal.
