was kind of sad to see henrik on that play down low where he was shielding the puck from scuderi for about 10 seconds behind the net while raymond and hansen just sat in the slot being covered by the kings
if daniel is out there then he'd know how to get open, henrik would know how to feed him the puck and they'd get a quality scoring chance out of that play
What is most sad is that credit is not being given to the LA players who made sure all his pass options were shut down and he had no play to make.
the hodgson trade is looking horrible right now. he would be on the first line right now. lol
Pahlsson has played good and we have no idea how an inexperienced rookie would preformed. Of course we are all still bitter, but I believe the changes we made this year are good for the team.
I think this was overlooked. During the scrum that Hansen got ejected and burrows punched quick, if you watch it again you can see quick throwing blockers and looking to fight. I'm all for protecting goalies but if one is actively engaged in the scrum I believe that they are fair game. Dont want to get hit? Don't throw any punches IMO
If Quick was really "throwing blockers" at Burrows he wouldn't be looking at doing much except maybe picking up teeth. Is he supposed to sit in the middle of a scrum and keep his hands down so people can take shots at him? Wake up.

Exactly. You guys are telling me Henrik is NOTHING without his brother? He's a great player, great players should be able to make the plays they want with other linemates as well, not just one. proof has always been there this season: The Kings defense and goaltending has won/is winning games.
Vancouver is shook. they completely under-rated the Kings and their frustration is obvious. i wonder if Van will start the Schneid on sunday
Not sure where you get the idea that the Canucks underestimated the Kings. The Kings are just a good team. Plain and simple. Guys like Richards and Brown are really stepping up.

...? If he hadn't gotten involved in the scrum (and don't tell me he was "trapped in the scrum" or anything) do you think Burrows would have just gone after him? I'm not trying to defend burrows on the play, your argument is just bad.

IMO, if anything I think they started out focusing maybe a bit TOO much on the kings and tried to match the Kings' game instead of playing their own.

I think that the 5 on 5 play for the Canucks has been fine. Kesler and Henrik have looked good in a lot of those even strength situations. The special teams have been atrocious, and that's what cost the Canucks tonight. Not only did they not score on the PP, but they gave up 2 shorthanded goals.
The Canucks PP has looked bad for awhile, so it isn't surprising. What is surprising though, is that they keep on trying the same sorts of things.

don't think this is the case at all, just stating the obvious that henrik has better passing options when he has his brother on the ice
i hardly hear any canuck fans making the argument that the kings aren't earning what they're getting...sure, there's shock at how certain (most) canuck players are performing, but full credit to the kings for taking advantage of a canucks team that has no answers so far for what the kings have been bringing
kings have figured out how to defend the canucks pp, quick is making the saves he needs to make, and guys like richards and brown have skated circles around the canucks that are supposed to be defending them
if you'd been on the canucks board for the past three months there was a fairly large contingent that saw the warning signs of a dried-up offense and worried the canucks couldn't flick a switch when the playoffs started which has turned out to be the case
I give more credit to LA than I discredit Vancouver. LA is just playing really simple, strong and effective hockey. I could count the number of mistakes they've made in the whole series so far on one hand. That's an enormous feat for any team. If they can keep it up, they could sweep the series. They've also had incredible puck luck, so who knows if that will continue, but it certainly put them in a commanding position.
Goal tending isn't Vancouver's problem. They're just not mentally there and haven't been for months. The warning signs have been there all along so I'm surprised that people are surprised.
No, he said it was Ridiculous that I thought that Burrows>Brown, and I based that on who i'd rather have. Besides if it's in the playoffs, I'd take Burrows over anybody on the Canucks or Kings
I know it's weird to say about a President's Trophy winner, but the Canucks really didn't have that good of a year and to be honest, didn't really deserve to be the #1 seed. Luongo and Schneider won them a lot of games themselves. Maybe everyone was just taking the Canucks on their win/loss ratio rather than actually watching the games. As a Canucks fan I have been worried for large portions of this year because they just haven't been as good as they used to be. Any other Van fans feel the same way?
Vancouver lucked into the Presidents Trophy by virtue of playing in the weakest division in the league. They are a good team, but probably didn't deserve the trophy.

They've been half-assing it for most of the year and considering the series so far, I think they are getting exactly what they deserve. They've done as much as they'll ever do with the current line-up and coaching staff. One of those two things has to change and they've already tried one.
The most infuriating thing is that the Canucks are beating themselves. Kings are just playing straight ahead hockey and the Canucks are just scoring on themselves pretty much .
Love the win but I hope that the Kings play like they did in game 1 rather than how they played in this game. Were not going to get two shorthanded goals thats for sure and we can't let Quick see that many shots, that was a heavy assignment for Quick and he made the stops we needed. Still happy that we got the win but Vancouver is going to come out like a desperate hockey team on Sunday and we need to play the type of game that we did in game 1 minus the horrible faceoff production that we had.

this argument is so old and several times disproved; you need to find something with substance. it's not lucky if it's two years in a row.
