Weber fined $2,500 for hit on Zetterberg

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=627504

This is NOT sufficient enough IMO

A little consistency, Mr. Shannahan.

Good playoff precedent set. For the mere sum of $2,500, you too can take an opposing star and smash his head in the glass

I thought Weber deserved a suspension but knew he wouldn't get one. This is exactly what I expected.

Honestly, we've see a lot of this kind of stuff (as most fans of other teams have as well). As muhc as I hate to say it, because I dont like when dirty cheap players are on the Wings, but I'd just assume see more of the hacking and slashing type crap that Gaustad pulled at the end on Datsyuk but with some Wings returning the favour.

*not that the wings never do that stuff but outside of Holmstrom they typically dont seem to instigate it.

I'm pulling for Nashville, but man this is a joke. Shanahan makes no sense sometimes.

Jackets fan here... Saw that last night, unfathomable that there was no suspension. Makes the Wisniewski hit on Clutterbuck early in the regular season look terrible.

The league isn't going to do anything about it becuase it's playoff hockey. They don't need to babysit guys. Maybe the Wings need to nut up and take matters into their own hands. Sometimes you have to put your purse down and push back once in a while. This is going to be a long series if this continues. If the Wings are even going to have a chance in this series they are going to have get really gritty and push back. You can't let guys get pushed around like that.

Not surprised. Wouldn't have been surprised to see him get a game.

Yes, but unfortunately this team is more gutless than the Canucks when it comes to that. Not gonna happen.

Weber should just slam all their heads into the glass...would be $50,000 well spent.

Come on, Shanny, what gives? I thought you were on our payroll. Are you trying to hint to us that you want a raise?

Not really related. But wish the Wings had a player like Mike Richards. That dude was badass last night. Always mucking it up after the whistle, antagonizing and blew up Burrows late in the game. Hopefully, we'll see what the Red Wings are made of tomorrow night. And I DON'T wanna see some Wing challenge Weber and get his butt whooped either.

Usually youre almost intolerable with your rhetoric, but youre absolutely dead-on this time.

Wings response next game had better be physical because so far theyve come off as gutless pukes.

I kinda figured nothing would happen... Ah well move along

hopefully this will Spark the Wings..

Really though when you think about it, the Wings could have easily won the game... **** happens, pucks dont go in from time to time. Wings will rebound.

It's sad that $2500 is only two months pay for me. I can take a $2500 hit quite comfortably. Weber can probably reach into his couch cushions and find that.

Nucksfan here... That's a load of BS. Weber should be at least get one game, whatever happened to intent. NHL needs a Roger Goodall, no bs disciplinarian.

Cheering for you guys!

If this was the regular season he gets 5 games. Playing physical and scrums are one thing but blatantly pounding a guys face into the boards like its a wrestling Turnbuckle is another. Shoulda got a game.

Why do I feel that if this was Klein or Josi it woulda been a suspension?

Oh well though *****in about it aint gonna change the decision we still gotta come out and play tomorrow.

Maybe Emmerton will make himself useful by running Rinne in game 2. It would be the most impact he's had on a game in his NHL career.

I don't really care about getting retribution but if it got Emmerton out of the line-up its a plus for the Wings.

As a Jackets fan, who suffered the penalty handed out to Wisniewski (8 regular season games and loss of income for those games), how in the he!! is this fair. Shanny get consistent!

message from Shanahan to players : if you want to try hurt opponent's player, don't use elbow hit on him, instead of it just grab his head and smash it into the glass 3-4x.No suspension, just small fine (~10% of daily sallary) .... gl in series against NSH.
