If you're going to let go of the coach that hasn't made the playoffs for 3 years, you should also let go of the core that hasn't made the playoffs in 3 years.

I'm hoping there will be a wave of change coming to Calgary.

Time for the demolition of the team top to bottom pretty much.

Hopefully Renney's next. Tambellini is a ****ing moron though and needs time to "evaluate".

This was a no brainer.
Who would be a good candidate behind the bench now for Calgary?

For the 2013 draft being as hyped as it is this could be the perfect time for Calgary.

With kipper and Iggy there's 2 more first rounders to Calgary's own.

Brent simply did not perform to the standards that the Flames were held to. He refuses to adapt his system, and you can really see teams take advantage of it inbetween periods.

My guess is that Troy Ward will get the spot.

Flames should sell off there core players as well. Turn their ship around. Sure teams like the leafs or jackets will pay for kipper. Might be few playoff teams that could fit Iggy in.

Calgary was better off under Mike Keenan than Sutter.

Darren Dreger is making it sound like Sutter quit

Quote:
Flames release says "mutual agreement" to conclude Sutter's coaching duties. Sounds to me Sutter may not be on board for direction of team.

I'd be lying if I said this disappointed me. I am very pleased by this. This hopefully means more change is coming.

"Not on board with the direction of the team"... given that Calgary has been about as directionless a team as there could be in the past few seasons, could this mean Feaster has finally started to think about going through a more "traditional" rebuild?

honestly i have a bad feeling this may be a sign that not alot more change is coming.

i figure sutter dosent want to be here....why wouldnt he? cause he feels nothing is going to change. they must have an idea what direction the teams going in before making coaching desisions. i really feel sutter just dosent agree with that direction. that direction being no drastic changes. i cant see sutter wanting another go at it with the same guys that have let him down the last few seasons, and i dont blame him.

just my thought process immediatly after hearing the news, either way, its going to be one of the more interesting offseasons in a long long time

If they go the rebuild route (and I think they should), it'll be a few years of hardship. Look at their division, Canucks and Avs are going to be good for a long time, and then you have Minnesota and Edmonton stockpiling blue chip prospects ready to make the jump.

They didn't help themselves by delaying this process, and if they don't increase their draft successes, it'll be that much harder.
