Should fire the GM that follows the exact same model as the old one.

Darren Dreger is making it sound like it was Sutter who quit

Flames release says "mutual agreement" to conclude Sutter's coaching duties. Sounds to me Sutter may not be on board for direction of team.

Sutter for head coach
Really, the guy looks like a hard-ass and is a much needed upgrade from Renney....

I'm not a fan of Feaster, but Flames ownership totally handcuffed him if the stories are true.

Then maybe he should do what Sutter did and step away.

Feaster should go with him. He's a complete idiot for guarenteeing a playoff spot on TSN. All he did was put pressure on that whole team.

Maybe the Oil should pick him up, he was great in New Jersey.
Hitchcock stayed in the division and look what it did for the Blues.

I think Sutter would be a good fit in Edmonton ... although Quenneville would be my preference if the Hawks decide to let him go after this season.

Why?
It's not like he had much to work with in Calgary. I thought he did amirable work under the circumstances.

I'd be down with aye Queneville for sure, but if he's unavailable B Sutter isn't looking too bad...

I don't really see Sutter being much better than Renney for this group.
You either get an offensive minded coach or you just keep Renney if you're not going to do that.

Hitchcock and Sutter are two different style of coaches
Sutter will be heading back to red deer--there were reports he was not happy at the nhl level of coaching

Another coaching change? How many is this now? I wonder when they're gonna finally realize that its not the coaches who are the problem, but rather.. its the players.

I felt as though the writing has been on the wall for some time now. Feaster laid out his expectations at the beginning of the season and that was to qualify for the playoffs. Now that his expectations haven't been met and it appears that Feaster along with Flames ownership still isn't on board with a scorched earth rebuild.......someone has to be the fall guy. It's really sad as a fan when your team is denied a different direction because ownership is too blind to see what's staring them in the face. As an Oilers fan, I love that Calgary is going to wallow in mediocrity or pure suck for a few more years at least. They're in for some hard times in Cowtown.

I think thats just a 'save face' move for both sides. Feaster doesn't want to look like he's going to pin the blame on the coach for this sinking ship and Sutter doesn't want to look like he got fired.
The conversation probably went like this:
Feaster: "Listen Brent, its going to get worse before it gets better...actually I should say its going to get worse before it gets more worse...a little worse after that, and then it really hits the fan...then it might get a little better...but probably not."
Sutter: "Oh...so you're going to trade Kipper and Iggy?"
Feaster: "Ahhh....y'know, even if I didn't..."*shrugs* "You want out?"
Sutter: "Sho' 'Nuff homeslice! I'm out!" *Flashes gang sign and leaves*
