I don't get why there's such a stigma attached to diving. Ridiculous. If someone keeps whacking and obstructing you while the refs are too stupid to see it, go ahead and take the dive. I might make an exception for completely unwarranted dives, however.
Dont know if there is a video of it but not a fan of the head jerk. Jagr (clearly) interfered with Crosby and it was going to be a call but Jagr put his arm across Crosbys abdomen to slow him down and Crosby jerked his head back like he was high sticked or something.

put the hate away, if a player is clearly being interfered with than he cannot be called for diving IMO. Crosby even stayed on his stayed on his feet during all that.
The problem is that most of the "diving" occurs when the opposing player actually commits a foul. Then you get into this shady area of trying to figure out how much of it was an embellishment and how much of it was an infraction.
I'm sure the refs have a list of players who generally make them look bad. I think its up to them to stop giving those players the benefit of the doubt, and i think they do to a certain extent, but not enough.
I wish the refs would call the dive more often, but I understand that its a difficult call to make in real time. Personally, I wouldn't mind if the ref screws up a diving call once in a while against a chronic offender.
Fines don't stop dangerous hits I doubt it stops diving. Just call a penalty when it happens and is clear if the players hurt their teams enough times they will stop doing it.

It's not that simple. Due to the speed of the game it's hard for refs to see what is and isn't diving. It already is a penalty it was called last night against Detroit that solution clearly doesn't work.

Relax.. It just means I hate players "embellishing" I just pointed a recent situation out.
Why would canucks fans not like it? We hate the diving as much as anyone.whats the point of saying that besides immature trolling. Every team dives and the game would be so much better if all teams stopped.

A lot of the time the blatant dives are extremely obvious, just call those and I think you might start to at least give the players something to think about.

You actually think there was interference there? I saw Crosby clearly jump INTO Jagr's path then put his arm around him and act like he was being held up when he very easily could have just continued on his path without ever running into Jagr. Then the head-snap motion made it look even worse. This is the kind of garbage that will keep Sid from getting all the respect his talent warrants.

Yes some are very obvious watching from your tv with an aerial view. The game is to fast for the refs to catch every dive. It's not realistic. That's like expecting the refs to fix headshots. You don't leave fixing anything to the refs.

They have been calling the obvious head shots pretty well why not call the obvious dives?
