What's the max capacity, including standing room? I wasn't impressed until I saw the panoramic windows with a view of QC. That should be killer. Seeing the players as they go to the locker room is a cue from Xcel energy center and Jobing.com Anyone know if Consol has something similar?
That glass wall leading from the ice to the players' locker room is one of the features in the MSG retrofit. I love the look of the new arena. The inside looks great. I'd love to see some more exterior shots.
Just to clarify -- the Pens also train in a complex similar to Brossard in Pittsburgh's southern suburbs (Southpointe). But they still have training facilities at Consol Energy for game-day training, as they do everywhere including in Montreal. Not only do road teams need training facilities as well but the home team still needs weight rooms/bikes etc. Pretty sure that's what Viper was talking about.
and by the way the Pavillon de la Jeunesse seats over 4k (about 5k including standing room).
I'm not saying that the bell center and the future colisee don't have training facilities, but that the specific type of facilities in Pittsburgh for the home team are in the arena, where as in Montreal, this equipment are in the brossard center. And that perhaps Quebec will eventually do the same.

18 000 seats but with those panoramic windows and the floor around it and the standing rooms, the max capacity is surely more than 18k.
I love how they are planning to have hot girls in the Zone Club. Its a nice touch
Notice, the girls have their backs to the play. The point of that frame was to illustrate that a guy can take a girl on date and still follow the game like a boss

From what I understood, what they are calling a bunker (vip access to see players going into the room) is an innovation. They used many exemples of what was done in Pittsburght yet they didn't for that part. I honestly don't know if any other arena has such a thing.

Jobbing arena in Phoenix has the same thing, but I don't think that it's a private room over there, but rather a public room.
I think the best part of that video was the panoramic view of QC thats a brilliant idea if they can figure out how to control the temp with that much glass allowing sunlight in...

A game is a good dating test. I took a woman to the Cavs-Heat game in 2010 for LeBron's first trip back to Cleveland. A Heat fan wearing a Miami LeBron jersey came into our section in the 4th quarter. She threw her beer at him and went on a tirade that lead 8 other people to throw beers at him. I fell in love at that moment.

See, they got everything planned.

It's pretty simple, the side of the city they want to show is south of the arena projected emplacement. Sun goes from east to west. It will still gets some pretty good A/C but it's minimized by the fact the sun wont be blowing into those windows pretty hard.
And many games in east are player after 6pm...very rarely do we get a huge sunshine past that hour. Plus our normal summer temperatures range between 25 and 28 celsius...nothing to worry about.
I'd like to see the exterior... it all looks great from the inside but a steel and glass ultra modern arena doesn't seem like a nice fit for QC. Ironically, I'd hope it looks more like Jobing or the Prudential Center

Aparantly the exterior will have the architecture of the old Hypodrome. Since they wanted to build the arena at that place, people wanted them to keep the old architecture, especially the entry. Wich I love, I wouldn't want something too cold and modern.

Uhhh, why? This wouldn't be located in a part of town where such building would clash with the rest too much.

Is that confirmed? Did they talk about what would happen with the Colisée Pepsi after the new building is finished? Will it remain in play? (That would mean 2 arenas side by side, nearly.)

I'd read in several places that the entry would maintain the Hippodrome facade but nothing about the rest of the arena. Can you confirm that this is the plan?
It's not confirmed yet.
They will demolish it for the construction of the arena, then they have 3 possibilities :
1) rebuilding it the same way
2) rebuilding it differently (with an artistic touch)
3) not rebuilding it and create a new facade
I understand that as it relates to the entrance. I'm wondering about the rest of the building's exterior. Kimota's post implied that the arena's entire facade would be consistent with the hippodrome architecture, not just the entrance that we've all read about. Any word on this, as this is the first I've read about such a plan.

Well, it's not true because we don't know yet, they need to take a decision for the facade first. Everything is on the table for the moment. The mayor said he wants to keep most of the budget for the inside... We should get more information when they will release more images of the project (we should get them in august or september)
From my understanding, the only element kept from the old hyppodrome would be the facade.
But even now, they don't seem sure they want to go ahead with that. After all, it's not like the hyppodrome was loved that much by the citizens.
The mayor said this week that not everything needs to be saved and honoured, meaning that they could very well just put it down and build something entirely new for the arena.
