Got a question. People have spoke about liberal shot counting in Florida. I aint about to ask this on their board cause it seems border line insulting. What's the deal there? They inflate the shot count to higher the goaltenders save percentage? Count post hits, and missed shots I'm assuming? What is up with that?
I remember last game there. Florida I don't think got more than 1 shot on goal in the 3rd. I think they hit a post, and it was counted as a shot. Post hits aren't supposed to be counted as shots on goal, but missed shots. Only time I can think of a post hit as a legit shot is if the goaltender swats the puck towards the post, and it bounces off.
Are they only liberal with the opposing teams shot count? Or with the Panthers shots also?

So when was the last time we were this excited for the playoffs? 2004? To try, and win a consecutive cup? Forget that. That playoff year sucked! Stevens injured, Rafalski playing with a bad leg.
I probably haven't been this excited since 97 after missing in 96, or 01 to try, and win consecutive cups. It's a toss up.
I'm an insomniac. I gotta get up to go to work, and cut the grass, drain the pool real early, and fill it up by 9;00 AM. Hopefully be leaving around 11;00 for South Florida! I put in for this vacation time right when I moved here, and started working. Just for a playoff run!
Yeah I'm with that. Every year since I didn't have high hopes, and in 04 after winning a cup the year before that team kinda sucked with all the injuries. 03 I thought we had a legit chance so I was excited when they began that year, and we won it all.
2002 we sucked that year too. By the last two years before that's standards. We did have a good run at the end of the season though after we got Langenbrunner, and Nieuwendyk from Dallas though.
While we're on the topic in April 2003 I was excited, but didn't think we would win a cup. I thought we were spoiled enough with the 2 championships, and 3 runs in less than a decade. I was wrong though!

We need our best players to be our best players. We need our lines to be at their best especially our top 2 lines. If we can get that in Game 1 tomorrow night in Florida I think we will be just fine.

I agree, and I'm excited, and nervous at the same time. Just 3 weeks ago before we started this streak I was getting on everyone's nerves around here with clinching a playoff spot, and getting scared. Not to mention Buffalo came from 11 points behind us to 4 in like a week! Glad the Devils turned it around, and shut me up.
Still like I say the Devils have been the best team in the Conference since clinching. You look at Pittsburgh, Flyers, Rangers. I know they clinched 1-2 weeks before us, but all those teams played crappy once they clinched. Not consistently bad, but some games they were sandbagging, and other games not showing up. I'm talking two big losses to the Islanders from Pittsburgh who were like 15-1-1 before those games, and the Flyers playing carelessly against Tampa Bay. The Rangers having their moments. I don't even think Ottawa won a game after they clinched. Aside from Washington who clinched second to last game the Devils were the only team to win all games after they clinched, and not take their foot off the gas.
We could have lost every game after that Tampa Bay win, and still been in 6th. Would have had to have an OT loss though cause Ottawa would have tied us, and won the tiebreaker.

Think boys will come out flying. Year ago, someone here said that missing POs could be blessing in disguise. Listening to our boys last couple of weeks, seems like it might be true.
