Odds we get the front page / back page of the Times or Post?
So, just for fun...
The only NY team that played tonight was the Rangers...no Knicks, no Yankees, no Mets, obviously no football. Didn't hear any substantial NYC news today. So what are the odds we get the front/back page of one of the papers after winning Game 1? Last time I saw it was like 2007.
Again, I know it really doesn't matter, I'm just interested to see if they show hockey playoffs, or make the back headline "Yankees ready for Home Opener!"

Dont looknow but I think the papers read "Yankees ready for Home Opener!"
Will definitely be "Yankees ready for home opener"
and if it's not that it will be "Tim Tebow sneezed and said God bless me".
Rangers have been 1st for the majority of the season and they are always 10 pages in on the Sports section buried in a corner, and ESPN NY rarely acknowledges them. Such a disgrace, especially when the crappy Knicks get better coverage than we do.
Anyone know the actual last time we got the back cover of the Times/Post?
Last year after we lost a game to Washington in the playoffs.

Rangers on front of nypost website and on front of daily news sports page....so lets see in the morning. I wont be up early enough, but can someone post here if we are?
Looks like they got the Post, Mike Vaccaro wrote an article on the game, but really on Cally. Think Mike is the best writer in NYC by a large margin. Here is the link to the Vaccaro article.

I'd say the odds are worse than them winning the Stanley Cup. And even if they did, they still wouldn't be on the back page because Mark Sanchez got caught sending nude pictures.
Will everyone put a sock in it here now about the newspapers? I must be the only one who simply does not care. I don't read newspapers made out of paper and think getting the back page today doesn't actually mean anything to the significance of hockey in this town.
Accept hockey for what it is in NY and move on. You'll live longer.

It has nothing to do with significance of hockey in the town and I don't think any one cares that you don't care.
For those of us that "care" its not about growing hockey as a sport as much as it just nice for once in a, ehem, blue moon that the team we live and breathe by gets even a little bit of national recognition. Makes victory just a smidgen more enjoyable.

Local recognition. Among people on the subway. It's a moral victory. I guess. I'd rather just win.

What a shame... The Flyers are all the ruckus when it comes to exposure in philly (provided it's not Football season).

Which is what we have been doing, haven't we? You don't get 1st place in the eastern conference for losing. Therefore what is your point? Its moot to have a moral victory without an actual victory. We now have our actual victory and want our moral one as well.
