What can anyone tell me about the way Santos is playing during the exhibition? What is his likelihood of actually sticking around?

I'll be there, but I have season tickets so its obvious.

Really think we have a good team this year regardless of what the experts say, alot will hinge on how our rookies perform and if we can get Carrick and/or Lane back but even if neither return I've liked how our rookies have looked thus far, I think we have a shot at the division title this year and a chance to go deep and win the opportunity get get our butts kicked by London in the final

It isnt hard to find me really, I am the guy with the air horn (the air can not one of the dozens of plastic horns)

Section 14 I sit with all the people who stand up and yell "sarge!" but I dont do that myself.

Anyway some thoughts on last nights game, I know this is only exhibition but man does this team look good right now. Robinson I think is going to have a great year. Smith looked pretty good in net, smaller guy but pretty quick. Kyle Wood is so freaking big, plant him in front of the net and nobody will be messing with Machovsky or Smith this year. Clarke looked a bit timid last night but considering he just got back on skates this week after his shoulder injury I am willing to give him some time.

Amadio looks great out there and with all these younger smaller guys the team is so much faster than they have been in years. Watching the game last night was like nothing I've seen in Brampton in a few years, we have speed and we challenge offensively, mind you we werent that great on defence last night but good goaltending from Machovsky and Smith seemed to counter that.

This could be a very fun year in Brampton

as a fan of another team in the division i see the battalion right behind barrie.

barrie gets Scheifele back and acquired AA in the offseason. If brampton were to get Carrick back and maybe a big move at the deadline they might be able to contend but the way i see it as of today is like this

Barrie
Brampton
Niagara
Sudbury
Mississauga

Brampton's roster is down to 24 now as Bragangnolo and Bezruchko have been released.

Troops go 4-1 in the pre season and got 19GF and had 12GA.
Amadio really impressed with 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points.

Still no word on Carrick or Lane but both have been sent to their AHL clubs, I believe AHL camp starts next weekend so even if they do come back it wont be for a couple weeks probably.

So here are some potential lines now.....

Robinson - Machac - Goodrow
Foglia - Lewis - Amadio
Clarke - Jarvis - Froats
Paul - Feasey - Amante

Santos

We still have 8 defenceman...

Wind - Bell
Blujus - McIvor
Miller - Abraham
Wood - Raycroft

Machovsky
Smith

Not a bad looking team at all going into Friday.

By the way people around the arena are talking, this kid has really impressed the team staff........not bad for a free agent.

I will. I've been going to about 3-4 games a season since 2004-05, usually opener, closer, Thanksgiving and a random January game. I'm considering getting seasons tickets next year if they stay in town. Here's hoping.

Kyle Wood has been sent down to Jr A Orangeville.
Butler has said that Wood will continue to practice with the Troops during the season. I'd expect if any defenceman go down or get traded Wood will see some game action with the Troops, he looked ready in exhibition to me but I guess a tad more seasoning couldn't hurt when we already have 7 defenceman as it is.

Wood has been a rock for us. It's too bad but he was a victim of the numbers game. Can't wait for Friday. We don't know where to sit, section 13 at the top maybe?

If you buy 13R row P you have to promise to move down one spot so my friend can have seat 102 next to my 101, he is visiting from Nova Scotia and I got him a free ticket from another STH that isnt going to be at the game but I would like him to have the seat next to mine

Not a good start for Brampton losing both games opening weekend to Niagara and Sudbury. I thought Brampton played very good in the home opener and was the better team but they could not solve Festarini. He was the deserving first star as he put up some great stops.

Didnt see any of the Sudbury game since it wasnt on TV, Butler said in an article he was pleased with the Troops play on Sunday, also consider in that 4-1 loss 2 goals were empty nets.

One thing is clear 2 goals on 65 shots isnt going to win you games, hopefully they can find some type of scoring groove for this weekends games vs Belleville (already a very hard team to score against) and Oshawa (a high offense team)

Brampton Defence has looked awesome through the first two games. The PP has also looked strong, the forwards just need to start finishing down low. Abraham and Miller have really impressed me as a third pair, they are both really skilled with the puck. Looks like Abraham has gained back the confidence he had in his rookie season.

Well scoring still seems to be a problem but a 1-0W last night nonetheless.

The Czech connection of Machac and Machovsky get the glory on the scoresheet as Machovsky gets his 7th career shutout (one shy of Killeen for the franchise lead) while Machac's breakaway goal in the 1st stood up for the winner.

But everybody came to play last night, Troops came out hitting and man did they ever block a ton of shots last night everyone did great. If we can ever solve the scoring problem I really think this team can be a big threat.

I thought the offense was actually better than the 1-0 score said. The PP was solid, they just didn't get a good bounce, and along with the Machac goal they had a couple other good breaks that forced Subban to make some pretty good saves. They also got some good traffic to the net.

It definitely is the case that there is no one here that is a top-end offensive talent, which is not surprising when you don't have any NHL draftees up front, but with the sound defensive crew and excellent goaltending, they might just have enough to make a good run at it.

They can expect a world class skater with a very good Hockey IQ. He sees the ice well and can quarter back the PP. He will add an offensive element to the back end without giving much up defensivly. He his also a great kid off the ice and has always been very approachable and takes the time to meet with fans.

Good pick up by the Otters, as said Spencer is an offensive d man and can work wonders on a power play. It was nessecary for Brampton to move him since Stan wanted Mark Raycroft to get a regular spot in the lineup, not to mention give Kyle Wood a chance to play at some point this season.

Kinda odd that he was sent to a team with 8 defenceman already but I am guessing they are still firguring things out on the back end in Erie.

Personally I was hoping Spencer could be used in a trade to get some more scoring depth in Brampton but either way somebody on our back end had to go.

Good luck to Spencer in Erie.

Thanks for the response on Abraham, after the first game I can certamily see his skating ability.

A side note I just wanted to say that the Brampton Battalion showed a lot of class last night. Otters coach Robbie Ftorek's daughter tragically passed at the age of 23. There was a ceremony for her last night which concluded with the Otters players all shaking hands and hugging the Ftorek family. Cameron Wind then went over and did the same thing and the Battalion coaching staff as well. I thought that showed great respect as maybe not all other teams would have done that.

Troops claimed OA Forward Brendan Childerley off of waivers from the Owen Sound Attack. Childerley apparently a gritty player, only 14 points last season, from what OS people have told me a very hard working team guy. This move and now situation reminds me a lot of a move made pretty much the exact same time last year when Brett Mackie was brought in after Watters was injured. I think when the trade was made Mackie was a stop gap while Watters was out but Mackie played to good to be let go and eventually when Watters returned it was Santini who got the boot.

I am thinking this season if Carrick were to be returned we could see Childerley and maybe Froats fighting for their spot on the roster.

So Carrick is officially done in Brampton as the Marlies have sent him to the ECHL, from what I've heard he will be with the Idaho Steelheads.

Barclay Goodrow has officially been named captain of the Battalion.

Terrible start for the Troops so far with just 2 wins in 9 games, a couple of blown leads and not nearly enough goals (as pretty much anticipated).

If things dont get going soon it could be a down year for the Troops.

Can anyone comment on Blake Clarke's start to the year?

Blake Clarke has had a great start to his OHL career, leads his low scoring team in scoring with 10 pts,4 goals and 6 assists
He has really picked it up in the last 10 days
Looks like a real special player
leading your team as a 16 year old in a tough is a great accomplishment
