What a great game. Obviously I am disappointed my Blues lost, but that was a fantastic game. I thought the first 3 periods were as even as it gets. The first OT, I thought we had the better of the play and Niemi came up huge. What little playing time there was of the 2nd OT was all Sharks. I am glad it was a good goal that won the game. Great shot by Havlat on a rolling puck. Playoff hockey should have a Surgeon General warning about heart failure. Hopefully my boys can get the split before heading to the Tank. Have a great Friday.
The Blues had me shaking the whole game. This series is going to be like this the whole way, I'm sure. It's going to be a close one; I'll be surprised if I'm alive by the end of the series

You are the most mannerful opposing team fan I've ever encountered on HFBoards.
Just another Blues fan dropping in to say game 1 was fantastic hockey. I still think my Blues are a better team, but I think this series is gonna be tightly contested and full of awesome games, and win or lose, I think both teams and fanbases will have a new respect for the other after it's all said and done.
Also... How many more games do you think it will take like that before the Blues lose the boring label? Ha!

I think it's mostly just a general stigma of a defense-based style; people like to see goals. I don't think it'll go away (unless the Blues stop playing very heavy defense...and I don't see that happening anytime soon; it's been treating you guys well this season). However, I didn't think tonight's game was boring at all. Double overtime in Game 1...that's exciting playoff hockey.
Thanks for the messages! Blues fans are among the classiest I've ever encountered. Scottrade Center was absolutely electric and sounded louder than the Bell Center and United Center! I'm happy you guys have a playoff team again.
I thought the game could have easily gone to the Blues. You guys outplayed us. I really felt we stole a win. Let me correct myself, Havlat and Niemi stole a win. I expect that you guys will come out even hungrier in game 2. Should be another good one!
Crazy fun games. You're being a little generous, the Blues dominated a majority of that game and the Sharks had Niemi steal it. Also, getting away with Couture's interference helped. I don't think Halak was as bad as some Blues posters are saying, but I haven't been watching Hitchcock's system average 1GAA all year either
Wow, as a Sharks fan it feels good to be on the other end of a one-sided playoff game that was stolen by a goalie though. I can't remember that ever happening since the Irbe days.
I am very jealous of the fact Blues fans get a real organ in their arena. It sounds so much than all the synthesized and canned music at the tank. The atmosphere sounded great last night guys, hope the rest of the games are that exciting (except for the heart failure it causes)!
Don't misunderstand a rational opposing hockey fan as middle of the road. I Bleed Blue.
Teal is a relative of blue
This reminds me a lot of last year when we played the Kings. There really wasn't any hatred or animosity towards the Kings or the Kings fans (until later in the series). Also, with all the obnoxious Nucks fans running around, it's really hard to hate on any other fan base
i loved during the game how excited the fans sitting behind nemo would get during those plays with chaos at the net. those fans standing and yelling would make me almost shart my pants.
i posted on the blues board, but i should reiterate that i'm loving how classy blues fans have been online. it's a definite change from kings, ducks, wings, and canucks fans... i'm not inclined to root for the victors of my team, but if the blues win the series i'll have to root for them... hopefully not to their disadvantage
Well... I'm guessing this thread isn't gonna stay pleasent, but my plan was to try to keep things civilized and talk to the opposing teams fanbase after every game, so here it goes.
Both teams got their hands dirty last game. And I'm fine with that. I don't think there should be suspensions either way (though the Burns elbow was reckless, I'd say it will get nothing, a fine at most.) And I'm fine with that too. I think letting these 2 teams go is the best way to handle things.
Overall, yesterday was a great game for me, couldn't get tickets but some local movie theaters are showing the games with free admission, and we had a crowd of over 200 there which made for a cool atmosphere. If you guys have anything similiar, check it out, makes for a cool experience.
So yeah, I'm going to give you guys the same wish I do for all games: No injuries from here on in, chippy play or not.
See, you say you wanna keep it pleasant but then you toss in something about a Sharks player doing something dirty. That's gonna rile people up. In a perfect world, we could all talk over coffee about each team's questionable moves, but on a forum board that's just gonna get people pissed.

While also stating he shouldn't be suspended for it. And come on, it's not like me calling that play dirty is a stretch. And as I said, my Blues were not innocent either.
