who might take a flyer on Kristian Huselius?

Who (if anyone) might/should take a flyer on Kristian Huselius this offseason? Turns 34 in november, pending UFA who hasn't played a lot the last two seasons. Usually a solid 2nd line winger/PP specialist when healthy, but if he can't find his offensive game again after this season's injury issues, he's not gonna bring anything else to the table.

Likely won't get many calls from cup contenders, but maybe he could be something for the teams who fails to land the top free agent wingers this summer? Shouldn't cost much.

Pens are always up against the cap and looking for veteran wingers on the cheap like this. May be a fit there.

if Iginla is still around, wouldn't be shocked to see the Flames sign him on the cheap....as they continue to recycle old assets and stay completely irrelevant.

Last off-season no one signed Samsonov. This off-season could easily be the same for Huselius.

A team with a serious lack of wingers might take a chance. Islanders, Stars, Jets, Hurricanes, Coyotes all could have a need. And they all have a history of reclamation projects.

Flyers might take a "Who?" on Kristian Huselius.

if the habs fail to find a top-9 winger to add to their roster for next season by late-july (either via trade or UFA), I could see them giving him either a minimal 1-year deal, or perhaps even offering him simply a camp invite should he not have a contract by late august.

injuries have messed up his career last 2 seasons, but if he's fully recovered, I could easily see him be a "suprise" contributor wherever he lands.

he had 4 straight 55+pt, 20+goal seasons prior to the injury issues, and while he plays a somewhat "perimeter" game, his conditioning and work ethic where not an issue. He's also better defensively than people tend to give him credit for.

could see him being a nice fit on a line next to plekanec (especially considering his cap hit should be minimal).

I can see Brian Burke trying to take on another reclamation project for the Maple Leafs. He already is took a flyer on Lupul, Lombardi, and Connolly as projects. Huselius fits the bill for another roll of the dice for team Burke and Co.

Parenteau's agent, says he and Snow are gonna re-open extension talks. If the Isles can't get Parenteau signed,I could see Snow offering Huselius a cheap 1-2 yr deal.

Penguins need a PP specialist and someone who might mesh well with Crosby if Sully either leaves or drops off the face of the earth like Guerin did when he came back for the Penguins.

if there is this much interest the guy might get a 2.5M+ contract for himself.

He should play for Columbus for free to make up for his last season pay check.

If the contract is light, it's a low risk, medium reward move. Why not? He's soft but he was a good player when healthy.

I doubt the Flames take a chance on him with Tanguay and Sven being the left wingers for next year. Can throw Glencross in that mix to. If hes willing to take a deal around 1-2mil I could see a few teams being interested.

He'll probably take a contact like Sullivan did this year with the Pens, $1.5-2m to a contender looking to save on cap space for a top-6 guy.

do you have anything positive to say about the flames anymore? or do you just want us to be bottom feeding losers trying for a top 3 pick? why don't you just appreciate that the organization has integrity and won't give up like so many of our fans have.

both Huselius and Glencross play RW as well, and Cammy can play all 3 forward positions.

If they took a chance on Juice the Flames could potentially have Tanguay/Iginla, Baertschi/Cammalleri, Glencross/Huselius and Bouma/Jackman as their winger combinations.

Probably not as his base salary. I would suspect something more like 1.5-2.0 + performance bonuses (which are allowed if the contract is 1yr and as he barely played last season).

Not sure if I like those combinations or not.
