Same in Van... I didn't know BC had blue skies in April or other Jet's fans (ps until this year I lived in Victoria)

so what kind of deal is Slater looking at, think he'll explore or will he likely re-up asap?

So what would it take to pry Wilson out of Nashville? A 3rd?

Can't imagine that we get a young big promising center from Nashville with a 3rd unfortunately, no matter how troublesome he is...

And it's gray skies and rain over here too.

A 2nd and a decent prospect at the very least. A team with a late 1st in this year's draft would probably part with it for Wilson.

Every comment he's made on the subject recently makes me pretty convinced he'd like to sign ASAP. His exit interviews didn't sound at all like he was looking to test the market.

Would Miettinen really be bought out? I think I'd take the risk on him for one season at $1.35 mil. If he plays like he did the last 10-15 games he'd be a pretty good 3rd line winger who could play some PP and PK if needed, and a good value at that salary. It's not like we're going to be right at the cap or have a bunch of forwards in STJ beating down the door for the roster spot.

I wonder if Antropov might be a candidate for a buyout. We'd have to pay him a little over 3 million over the next two seasons. Guess that decision would depend on his trade value.

Can't see any of them being bought out. We aren't close to being a contender, so we don't really need the cap room. Besides, I don't think neither Hainsey nor Masons salaries will be as high in a season.

Serious?

He was a 7th overall pick in 2008. He's already had a couple of decent seasons, and is only in the conversation as possibly available because the Preds have an insane amount of depth, and he and the coach seem to have an issue right now.

His value might be lower than it could be, but it's not going to be low. Many teams in the league would want a big centre with his kind of potential.

A very telling thing for me is his Twitter pic is still of him in a Jets jersey. Doesn't exactly scream UFA clamoring to get out of town.

From watching hockey yes. I don't think I watched a complete NHL game for 10 years after Jets 1.0. I only watched playoffs (and only select games) since the lockout. Put it this way, during the 2011 draft my 2 nephews (6 and 10) had an encyclopedic knowledge of the prospects compared to me.

Can't beat it!!!

What I enjoy as well is using this internet thingy to go on this message board. Discussing & re-learning the game is just an added benefit of the Jets return.

For sure. Also in his various season-end interviews, talking about how much it meant to him to have been part of one franchise his whole career and how he wanted to keep that going, how he was more interested in staying where he had opportunities than chasing money, and that he loved playing here and the responsibility Noel gave him and really wanted to be back, LOL.

I realize you're not going to say "no I'm totally outta here as soon as I get a better offer," but he sounded really genuine when he was talking about how much he wanted to come back.

Even if Slater was the only UFA we re-signed, I'd be happy.

Honestly, he's the reason the GST line was as good as they were. Thorburn didn't get going until the second half and Glass is a level below the other two. I think you could replace the other two with Machacek and Cormier and they'd be just as effective, as long Slater is still anchoring the line.

Glass is more important than you think, hes more important than Thor thats for sure. Mittens should be bought out it saves the team money and he was a very bad hockey player, they need to upgrade.

Meh mittens wasn't too bad near the end of the year. More useful and productive then fehr. I think we will ride him out for next year.

I don't want to keep mittens. That means I'd actually have to learn how to pronounce his name.

Seriously though, he really started to look good near the e d of the season, I'd definitely put him on the third line and see hod he does.

If he's ****, at least it will his last year, and then we'll be rid of him. I'd also be tempted to Keep Fehr around for next season. Fehr was a pretty good point collector in Washington, and having had shoulder injuries myself, I know it's hard to recover. I'd give him another shot.

If he sucks, trade him at the deadline and get out fourth back, but he would have to resign at a discount. Just saying.
