Would never be Gionta. Gionta is one of those guys that has the heart to win. Gomez on the other hand is a lazy bum, he likes the glory but doesn't put enough work ethic into it. Gionta has the heart of a lion and will always be successful because he works hard to play, injuries not withstanding.

Sometimes, as a hab fan, you look at Gionta and think he's expendable. Then you see someone say something negative about him, and the Devils fan base comes in to his defense. Gotta love the guy.
Probably Gomez again unfortunately for 2 reason. Habs kept him AND he still isn't scoring. Bet more people defend him than Bourque

Not re-signing Gionta was one of Lou's biggest mistakes. The Devils have a depth issue on right wing and Gionta would have gone a long way of filling it. He always played bigger than he was and would have made the team better. I can't understand why Lou didn't even try to re-sign him.

Gionta has been nothing but amazing for us, kinda almost under appreciated by Habs fan. Even during the 2010 playoff run, Cammy got all the love for scoring 13 goals, but Gionta has right there with 9 goals of his own, If you included the playoffs, in his first year he scored 37 goals in 80 games, and 32 goals in 89 games last year, and he was hurt pretty much all year this season.
But at the same time I can took understand why Lou didn't want to match the Habs offer of 5M for 5 years, but if Gionta was willing to take less to stay with the Devils, than maybe Lou should have signed him.
Bouwmeester! I guess that's kind of cheating since he's not really expected to score a ton, but he'd qualify.
As for Cammalleri he actually looked decent in Calgary - nothing great but he was on pace for 55-60 points over a full season (counting Calgary and not Montreal numbers). Unless he really falls off I don't see him pulling a Gomez.

I remember when Gionta signed that contract, I heard someone on the radio (McGuire?) talking about it. He said Gionta went back to Lou with the offer, and Lou told him to take the offer because he couldn't afford the cap hit as they were already having expense issues.
