They got the number of saves wrong but still, he's currently the best goalie in Worlds, that's pretty damned impressive.

We have the best goalie and the best skater at Worlds currently.

Not bad.

Remember when we used to sneer at other fanbases patting themselves on the back for the play of their non-playoff WC players? God I miss the playoffs.

Apparently Vincour was released from the Czech roster. Making room for Jagr perhaps?

Bummer either way, and not a good move IMO.

Stransky got blackballed by Czech hockey for going the chl route, could have something to do with that

I haven't seen the story, but if it was for Jagr I don't think there's much to read in to it. They're releasing a young guy with little experience for one of the best Czech players of all time.

That seems pretty straight forward. I know we would have loved to see him play, but Vincour playing his way on the roster after the European Trophy tournament (even if he didn't ultimately play) is an accomplishment.

EDIT: Oh yeah ... and apparently the Czech's are possibly going to soften on that rule regarding the WJC. I'm trying to remember exactly where I heard that, but I think it was on the Pipeline show from their contact in the ISS. He mentioned Sweden use to do the same thing until they realized they were basically punishing themselves by preventing the team from icing the most competitive roster possible.

It's not for Jagr, Jagr isn't coming because he doesn't believe he has anything to give to the team. Plus he played poorly against the Devils in the series (injury/gassed?-prob a mixture of the two), so we don't need him.

Does anyone have a source for this information about Vincour?

I'd be sorry to see him go. He has impressed me in the few games he had a chance to play in (I like the way he covers the puck with his body and uses his body to make space). All of us on the Czech WC roster forum section reckon he should be playing instead of guys like Nedved, Vondrka, Tenkrat.

Defending Big D reports it but doesn't cite a source.

This is probably why Vincour was let go:

Larsen led Denmark in TOI and SOG today in their 1-3 loss to Russia.

Kazakhstan looks quite on par with the US after two periods.

Bachman only one goal against so far at least.

Bachman with the win and Goligoski with an assist as the US beats Kazakhstan in OT.

Kari has a meltdown after the Finns build a 2-0 lead on Canada.

Now 4-3 for Canuckistan.

To be fair, Finland's defense is about 5x worse than a Stars lineup with good old Woywitka as #1 pmd.

Not a great day for Stars goalies huh lol. If Bachman would have lost to Kazakhstan that would have just been horrible.

Watching the replay of the US game and the announcers are commenting about how disorganized the Kazak power play looks and all I can think is, Damn, I wish the Stars powerplay looked this good.

How obscure of a hockey-playing country would you need to find before you saw something on par with the Stars' PP? Japan? Great Britain? Azerbaijan?

Funny you bring that up ....

At the 2012 Ice Hockey World Championship Division 3 in Turkey, Greece had a PP% of 8.11 and Mongolia has a PP% of 5.26.

Just curious, how good would you say some of those Division 3 teams are? How would they stack up against a local AAA team?
