Giroux-Superstar?

This thread is started from a Sabres fan, but man he is a treat to watch. Such a nice guy to....

Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Giroux the Superstars of the league at this moment. I know many people this season did not consider him one. Point must be proven now. Anyone disagree?

Hey sup Sabres fan here too. Giroux played as well a game of hockey as you can possibly imagine. The Flyers simply have too much speed and too much skill spread throughout their line up. And their big and they like contact, you just can't stop all of them!

Yes, definitely in my opinion he is a legit superstar even though I am a little biased towards him since he is my favorite player. It's arguably has been just two games but the guy is so dominant even when he isn't putting up big time points. 5 points and taking Flyers to a great comeback is just too big to pass on.

EDIT: 6 points now and hattrick.

The question mark is unnecessary.

93 points in 77 games is not good enough to be considered a superstar by some? I'd like to know what their criteria of one is.

Point was proven a long time ago.

Why did he fall so late in the draft!!! Guy has insane play-making skills and speed. That acceleration on that last feed to Cout was sooo sick...

He's really broken out this season, this kid has been a star for a while now. Brings it almost every night and is a solid mixture of skill, speed and defensive acumen.

Not long ago a the thread consensus was he was not in the same class as Malkin, Crosby, and Stamkos. Was just verifying the change...It was literally 2 months ago people were saying they need to see more consistency and that hes not "elite" yet, because this season was a "fluke". Yet he had 76 points last season as well...

A star is someone who dominates the game individually. A superstar is someone who dominates the game individually but also makes others around him better.

Giroux dominates the game individually, and makes others around him better. By definition yes, you have to consider Giroux a superstar.

I knew he was gonna be a superstar at the end of the 2010-2011 season when he was putting up alot of points, which is why i picked him in my fantasy hockey pool for this season and he has kept up his wonderful play. Seems to be doing even better in the playoffs, but so is the whole Philly Team.

Giroux has been a superstar for a while now. I thought he was the Flyers best forward in the 2010 cup run.

He reminds me of Savard with a better shot and better defensively, one of my favorite players to watch.

What did the commentator say about Giroux in the end of the game regarding his six point effort? All I caught was "only Patrik Sundstrom and Mario Lemieux ... more points" as my feed failed. I checked the stats on hockey-reference.com and in their stats only Sundstrom and Mario have scored more than six points in a playoff game (8 each), but their stats only go back to 87-88.

So what I'm really asking is, how many points the likes of Gretzky, Coffey and Orr managed to get in one playoff game at their best? And, were there anyone else with 6+ points in a PO game before 87-88?

Crosby and Malkin are better. Giroux is still on a tier below.

That pass had butter spread evenly on both sides of the puck.

Who knows why he dropped in the draft, I'm not one of these hockey fans that watches junior games 24/7 and knows everything about every player years before they enter the league. Once I see them play in the NHL, I know them. lol

The fact that he got drafted 22nd overall is almost enough to make me want to harm myself.
