U seem to forget yes Bryz was shaky in both but in both he also made 3 or 4 big saves that aloud us to win both games in pitts.
Giroux is just insane- this guy wants to be the best, it's so obvious. He doesn't give a ****, he wants to be better than Crosby, Malkin, and Stamkos. Just such an amazing player.
I LOVE this Philly team... your top 9 is everything you want... tough, 2-way players with all kinds of grit, upside, character.
Clarke put together a lot of good teams, all the while with people in bars, on the radio, and punching keyboards saying he'd never finish the job.
The thing that drove me nuts about Clarke is that he'd sacrifice the future for veteran rentals at the drop of a hat. Luckily MOST of those young players never panned out...but Homer's done an incredible job of building up a team of the future, a team of now, and a team of the past all at once. People look at the Gagne, Upshall, Richards, and Carter trades and get their feelings hurt that their favorite players are gone or their jerseys are worthless...but the guy looks like a genius. 3 of those 4 can't really stay healthy.

Holmgren trades picks away more often than Clarke ever did. If Clarke traded picks as much as Holmgren we might have never drafted Richards, Carter, or Giroux and Couturier, Schenn, Voracek, and Simmonds might have never been Flyers.

who needs draft picks when you have scouts to find guys like Read?

Maybe more, but Clarke traded away a lot of quality picks. Abusing hindsight for a second, if we had kept some of the picks that Clarkie traded, we COULD have had Briere/Kubina/Kaberle/Salo/Chara (Falloon), Keith/Cam Ward (Oates), Dubinksy/Goligoski/Franzen/Krecji/Rinne/Streit/Grabovski (Zhamnov) AND Justin Williams, Dennis Seidenberg, and Patrick Sharp.
Initially I meant the prospects he traded away, but looking back, he DID trade quite a few good picks along with those prospects for the likes of Zhamnov, Nedved, Coffey, Falloon, Oates, and Markov (who I loved). It's a pointless argument now though. Homer's made this team a contender for years to come.
