Carter is actually really good when he plays with competent linemates. I think he works his ass off, and he hasn't done much to annoy me all season. Nice to see the 4th line on the ice for a goal again. Goal for, and not goal against that is.

I had to look at the scorecard, and Gionta, Carter, and Bernier all got less than 8 minutes. I think Bernier got over 8, and the other two got just under 7. I don't understand that. I thought having these guys on the 4th line, and not Boulton gives a chance to give the 4th line more ice time? That's less than what Boulton gets in a game. Kovy got 27 invisible minutes tonight. We need more work from our big guns. Parise had a bad night too, but he did get to the puck in time to not allow the icing.

I like all of our UFA's. We aren't gonna spend money on new UFA's I doubt. Zach if we can. I would like to see Salvador back too. Best defenseman on the team I think. He is underrated, and hardly gets credit though he was on for that PP goal, and standing around like everybody else. I'd like Poni back, and even Bernier I wouldn't mind seeing. Moose too. Definitely safer to roll with him than Kinkaid while Marty is still around. Most of all Sykora! Cam I like him. Not so much when he's on the ice, but he's a decent enforcer, and has a good personality. No use in re signing him especially with Boulton still contracted.

People are still saying Sykora probably won't be back next year, and should be replace with Tedenby? Why are people still saying this? I'm not saying Tedenby doesn't have a future here, but our 21 goal scorer who we have for a bargain for Tedenby? Sykora also has helped Elias have his best season in a long time, and Zubrus have his best season as a Devil points wise.

Out of all the guys you mention the only one I wouldn't bring back is Cam other than that they should all be re-signed. I mean Sykora makes what 650K? and he scored 21 goals this year I'll take a player who makes that much and can produce as well as he did on my team anyday of the week. As for Tedenby I think he should spend another year in the AHL to develop his game some more to try and improve in some areas of his game.

Yeah Cam is pretty expendable. He don't even play every game anyway. Easily replaceable with someone in Albany. We also have Boulton contracted next year.

He's pretty awesome. I love the fact that he's one of the only mid-season pick-ups we've ever had that's been universally loved by HF.

Poni is universally beloved by the Devils fanbase at least, if not the Kings, Leafs, Penguins, and the former Whalers fans.

Always noticed him on the ice when I get the chance to watch the Devils play.

He forces a LOT of turnovers in the offensive zone.

Like I said Carter is a great 4th liner when he has a competent line. You put him on with Boulton you don't see that, but when given good linemates he can actually show his talents.

Remember Carter's first two goals? They came against us when he was with the Ducks in Prudential Center in 07/08! Two in the same game! They were his first goals of his career.

It was a horrible game at the time. Niedermayer's first time back in Jersey. He was hearing it all night. Think he assisted on a goal that night. Jonas Hiller as a backup owned us. Think we got 1 goal on over 30 shots. This was right around the time the getting owned by backups, and getting scored on by guys who haven't scored yet started. By the way off topic, but Jonas Hiller[Another monster pad goalie] sucks. LOL at him almost having Kovalchuks shootout goal in his pads, but slipping through.

If the player in question is a great fourth liner, why wouldn't you want to? In this case, absolutely.

Pandolfo as a 4th liner got what was it a 3 or 4 year deal?

Yeah I know bad example. Pandolfo had been with us for 12 years or something before his big contract. He didn't always play on a 4th line, but he did most of his career as well as on the PK. Too bad the years on that last contract were his worst.

carter is really starting to remind me of a slower jim slater that isn't as good at faceoffs. they're almost identical otherwise in terms of being good forecheckers and will never cost you defensively.

i don't care how good they are, you don't sign a 4th liner for more than 3 years.

also why do people think sykora is going to be as cheap next year as he was this year? i don't know what reality you all are living in but he sure as hell isn't going to be making that little again next season if he stays in the nhl.

it's also doubtful that he repeats how well he's done this season. i'd think a 15 goal season would be the anticipated output.

right, hiller the guy with a career .918 save percentage sucks. it's easy to rag on someone after they just had the worst (by a large margin too) season of their career. is he the best goalie in the league? no, but i'd take him over quite a bit of the league any day.
