Aw man, it's the weekend! We shouldn't be learning!
War of 1812 Fun Fact #2: The U.S. anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner" would be written a mere 3 weeks after the burning of Washington. The author of the original poem, Francis Key, wrote the lyrics while watching the American Victory at the Battle of Baltimire from the deck of two different BRITISH ships, as a temporary diplomatic captive.
Actually, the Brits who burned down the white house weren't, nor would ever become, Canadian. They were Brits through-and-through, and MANY had just finished a war with Napoleon, and sailed immediately from Europe to Washington (through Bermuda) for the attack. Almost every Brit involved in the attack on Washington and the White House were on North American soil solely for the war efforts, and almost all returned to England once the war was over. None of the soldiers involved came from British North America (aka: "The Canadas"), and almost none would settle there after the war. Many spent less than a year on N.A. soil.
Also: the attack on the Washington & the White House technically occurred in 1814, not 1812, so it's only the 198th anniversary.
Yes, but if you read my post, I said "during which." The war of 1812 lasted from 1812 until 1815.
Klinkhammer in for daug or condra, and keep Gilroy in. I really like Carkner, but missing the first part of the season and never getting in rhythm = not his year.
Also, let's make this one exciting. I know this isn't Flyers / Pens status, but this is the ****ing playoffs. Neil, Foligno, Cowen, Smith, etc... ****ing **** someone up in the first 5 minutes. We should start the third line for some momentum
Smith sucked so bad last game, he better bring it! Same with Turris, he needs to step it up.
Z. Smith has been asleep for half the season, he's playing scared. He needs to BEAST and just punch Dan Girardi in the face hard - even if he takes a penalty just to get the blood flowing in his body again.
So Stache is putting all his eggs in one basket to help the Rangers check us even better this time. Weird? I know it worked before for Clouston but it could easily backfire too. The Rangers played Spezza well but were boxed in by the 2nd line quite often. The problem in game 1 was that the team lacked muscle and making our 2nd and 4th lines soft won't help one bit.
If that's our lineup the Rangers will play us tough like the last game. Aside from the lowly NYI have they won another game since Winny came back? As a UFA Winny won't risk re-injuring himself one bad hit and he could be done, Condra can't handle the heavy hitting either way. The 3rd line will be the only one with any grit and Neil is nursing a shoulder injury.
I'd confuse their top checkers by loading up the 2nd line moving Michalek to play with Turris and Alfie instead. They'd have to choose whether to leave their best checkers against Spezza or put them against the loaded Turris line.
Winchester out for Klink, Condra in that spot. Neil on the 2nd line and a trio of Greening-Smith-Klink.
Instead we keep the same group that zombie walked through a game 1 loss.
****ING ********!
It's not a personal thing, it's execution and mindset. Putting Carkner or Klink in the lineup doesn't change the fact we need to play faster and win battles at the point of attack this game.

That totally screams Erik "16 Hits" Condra.
I don't like the idea of keeping together the same group that looked lifeless in game 1.
Condra scored a goal when the game was already over. He spent most of the game doing nothing and shying away from physical contact after Richards nailed him.
