Triple H created the Elimination Chamber

Interesting. I'm sure HHH stole the idea and buried the guy right after.

Well I guess he did create something.

I really don`t care for the Elimination Chamber though. The entire "random" light selection is kind of lame and it eliminates some potential for outside the ring work. Produces a lot of crappy "brawling" that HHH is known for. There is the opportunity for some decent spots but it always has that predictable spear/toss into a pod.

It is funny to see this because I just read about it yesterday in Chris Jericho's book. Supposedly HHH wanted to do a war games match but Vince didn't like the idea because it originated from WCW. I guess HHH came up with the Elimination Chamber as the alternate idea.

This is the perfect pre-mania match because you can shift storylines easily.

I like everything about it besides that the wrestlers hate it lol.

Agreed. It gives them the perfect freedom to really change things they might have ruined at the Rumble ppv. If things aren't progressing how they want, the chamber match allows so much flexibility.

As for the brawling and no work outside the ring, I can live with it. Nobody complains about that during a cage match and this is no different. Even being thrown through a pod is still a fun spot. Guys go through tables all the time but we still love it.

Sometimes I toy with an idea of having the pods be below the chamber floor though (just in my mind). Instead of the lights, once the timer goes off just have a ton of smoke go up in that corner and a hydraulic lift pushes the pod slowly up to ring floor level. Just a minor tweak that would add a little more excitement into the "who is next?" debate. Plus they could have more room to work before the pods come up, and it could create a couple fresh spots with the pods rising up (like two guys brawling in a corner and then the pod they're standing on is the one to rise).

Elimination Chamber is a cool concept and a fun match, but I don't know if there's ever been a classic EC match yet.

One thing I don't like about the EC is that it happens right before WrestleMania. Most years, it's 5-12 guys that didn't win the Rumble getting another chance to main event Wrestlemania. If they want to do on a specific month every year, I think it should happen at Survivor Series.

There's never been a classic Chamber match, but they've been consistently good not including that extreme rules chamber at the mess that was December to Dismember.

It would be better suited as a Survivor Series mainstay though.

i prefer the old-school survivor series elimination matches.
but i enjoyed the debut of the chamber at that PPV back then.

i dont mind them at all, but like any other gimmick its been used way too much now and dont really look forward to these matches like before.

the only thing i hate is this bullet proof glass that breaks every time. come on lol.

The first one is still one of my favorite matches (HBK mark though).

I wish it, along with Hell in a Cell, would go back to being a gimmick match that settles a feud instead of being something that comes up once a year.

EC is a multi-man match though. I don't remember it ever finishing a feud.

I wish they would do a 3 vs. 3 EC match. That would be cool.

I think my favourite EC match was the one at Summerslam 2003 when it was all about Goldberg. Crowd was going crazy for him and they really should have had him win that match. He did win the title at the next PPV but without the special crowd response.

i was prepared to come in here and dump on the EC until i read all the comments.

taking into the account it does allow them some flex to change story-lines easily i am going to be more accepting of it.

that said, i have never enjoyed an EC match and feel they just offer a few decent spots. i can live with it though. saves us at least from just plain old orton vs cena to headline another PPV on their own

Man...looked like both people (HHH and RVD) were kind of at fault for that one. A spot like that I would think is worked out before hand. HHH should have been further out and RVD should have re-thought the spot when he saw where HHH was relative to where he was on the pod.

Definitely more practical for him to bury 5 men in one match
