Ovi plays no defense
He is looking terrible right now and is not involved at all in his own zone, he's only throwing hits. Is he ever gonna' come out of this funk?

did you see Malkin's defense last night?
The soon-to-be MVP winner?

I just saw Ovi twice battling for loose pucks in front of his own net.
Looks lazy with one hand on the stick. But he's working

He's floating and not coming back to the puck at all.

He's a scorer, not a defenseman.
He watched Mighty Ducks 3 and now lives by that motto.

That's just Ovy being Ovy, but he has assisted on the only WSH goal so... give him credit for that.

...where have you been for the past 7 years? This is not news. Ovi's defense has never been strong. The fact that he's even back near his own goal is an improvement.

It's too bad he's never had great coaching. I'd love to see what a great coach would get out of him. And I'm not only talking about his defensive play. I'm talking about his all around play. You have a 6'3, 230lbs talented beast.

Vintage Ovechkin right now.
Preserving his energy for rushes
Flying down the left wing
Not using teamates
Floating in the neutral zone
Going after the body rather than the puck
Lazy in the defensive zone
You'd think we were back in 2006

Meh, he looks worse offensively to me than defensively, but you have to credit Boston's players. They really are working in a collective manner to shut him down.

If anything, i think Ovi comes back to far on defense. Unless his center is caught up ice or his point man jumps, he should be out closer to the point man.

Didn't he have like 50G 100P as a rookie that season? I'm not sure how playing like 2006 would be an insult.

Hmmm... weird.
I wonder why coaches work to get their players away from him then.
