Capitals. Not too many see them getting out of the first round but they are a deep team. If Holtby can keep this up, I think they have a shot agianst any team in a 7 game series.
Also, to an extent, the Wings. A lot of people (myself included) thought they might be just a little too old and wilt before a really good Nashville team with much better goaltending. That's not the case.
And of course the homer vote. After tonight, you've gotta include Ottawa. The Rangers might block a lot of shots and play a Torts style of game, but Ottawa is going to match them hit for hit and so far (despite the game one loss) have done a fantastic job carrying the play to the Rangers O-zone. If they manage to figure out how to break through the Rangers shot blocking, we could see a blowout going the opposite way from game 1's tally.
I would definitely agree with you here. Very few people see Detroit coming out of the first round, but it's always a mistake to underrate the Red Wings.
I'm sure I end up saying this every year, but damn if there isn't some great hockey everywhere you look. All the teams I had not given much chance (including that for which I cheer) have up and impressed me with strong performances. If I wrote out a list, it would be five or six teams long.

Unfortunatly, this is absolutly true for me too
i would hate to see Bruins out in the first round, but holy Holtby!
