Somewhat off-topic, but with the current success of Tobias Rieder in Kitchener, what is his value at the moment? Perhaps with our current abundance of high calibre offensive players, could he be a guy that could return a similar high potential defensive prospect?

Boom-or-bust at the moment, but that boom looks pretty enticing.

Not 100% certain, but i dont think the laughs have the cap space. Plus with burke, i think he would do gagner+hemsky for their 5th overall pick if they had the cap room.

Dont think there would be a need to add our 2013 1st rounder

EDM does this because it sets our top 6 for good. Gives Yakupov his linemate.

TOR does this because it gives them 2 top 6 players right away one of which has ppg potential. Also gives them 2013 1st of a team that finished bottom 2 ,3yrs in a row and 2013 draft is supposedly one of the strongest ones.

Hartikainen\UFA- RNH- Eberle
Hall-Galchenyuk-Yakupov

Why would we want gardiner?

Would never happen because the Leafs would win that trade big time. And that kind of thing just doesnt happen.

Stick to NHL 2012 kid...but i'm pretty sure that trade would get rejected there too.

Gagner and Hemsky are not Burke players. Burke would be stupid to trade a top 5 pick without addressing his team needs. 2013 1st is the added incentive for TOR. There would be 20 other teams that could offer a better package then a 47 point small C and a struggling injury prone forward. (atleast that how these 2 seem to fans outside of Edmonton).

Also, I am not sure why everyone is shooting down MIL OIL's proposal. It is not as lopsided as you would think. Horcoff has negative value and Gardiner is valued very highly by TOR fans (almost as high as us valuing Eberle).

anyways.. im sure the guy can defend his own proposal.

being freinds with Justin Schultz was the reason he gave. Also, the kid is better than most of our Dmen.

I believe Tambo is in Europe so...

That's awkward....

Ah Toronto media, just give it up. Hits aren't worth making crap up.

LMAO. Phaneuf is the most overrated Dman in the league. He is not a top pairing guy on a cup contender, even though he is paid like one.

Complete garbage spewed to generate hits but as an aside if Phaneuf ever became an Oiler I would have a very hard time cheering for the team.

No ****ing way we acquire Phaneuf--keep dreaming TOR media.

I'm content with our top 6 for next year, and I dont want there to be any trades involving Gagner, Hemsky, RNH, Eberle, Hall, or Yakupov. Gagner and Hemsky are better than their value and will serve their purpose next year. The other four are untouchable; I wish the media would focus on something else.

Agreed. He's the one Edmontonian in this league I do not ever want to see return home to don the copper and blue.

I don't see Jake Gardiner as a Brian Leetch-type in his career. I see him as a good 2-3-type defender. Definitely not worth giving up a Nail Yakupov for.

You're telling me. I won't believe anything unless TreenasOil and Eklund verify it.

btw

DION is 2 seasons away from being a UFA and Schenn is 4--I would prefer Schenn and something plus the 5th--only because DIONs contract would be up the same time as Nuges and Halls and Dion is getting 5.6 already and might want around 7 to 9 (in 2 years time) to stay in Edmonton--that is not worth the drop in my opion

He's not a bad player, but he isnt going to make edmonton better.

He probably sounds interesting because every player that suits up for the leafs are superstars according to laugh fans and the TO media.

No brian leetch is right, top 4 maybe?

Teams dont get better trading for leaf players, they get better by trading for leaf draft picks.

I've said before in this thread that the only way the Leafs and Oilers can make a trade that makes sense for us is if we get Schenn and they take Horcoff. That's really the only way I'd agree to trading that pick.

no.5 overall (Dumba, Reinhart, Trouba, Reilly, Murray), Kulemin and Schenn

for

no.1 overall Yakupov and Shawn Horcoff, 2013 3rd round pick

If this were on the table from Toronto though, the Oilers would have to at least consider it.

Not sure what the status of Horcoff's limited no-trade/movement clause is...

That's a way to get this roster healthy though.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Paajarvi-Gagner-Hemsky
Smyth(if he comes to his senses)-UFA C -Hartikainen
Eager-Lander-Jones
Petrell

Smid-Petry
Whitney-Schenn
N. Schultz-J. Schultz
Potter-Sutton

Plus one of the defense prospects to step into the line-up in 2013 or 2014.
