I don't like what he did, but it seems like that's what you need to do these days to protect your star players. Boyle wouldn't have gotten suckered if he manned up in the first place.
Listening to these idiots (Milbury and Jones) whine about lengthy suspensions for it are more sickening than anything Carkner did IMO.

Yes, especially when both have defended the gorillia sucker punches by Milan Lucic in the past.

I think that's more what I mean actually. The NHL is not going to protect it's star players, we've seen it all year. That's means teams are going to have to take matters into their own hands. It's the way it used to be done, if that's what the league wants than the Canucks have to adjust.
Me, too. It's what should have happened to one of the Bruins after all the free shots at Sedin. I'm not a fan of staged fighting and crap like that, but certain actions deserve a measured response. Punching an opponent in the head repeatedly merely because you have the opportunity means you're going to get it back.

If Carkner were smart he would have grabbed Boyle's head and slammed it into the glass. Proven effective and virtually NHL approved.
Boyle got what was coming to him. Why rough up a star thats 80 pounds lighter than you unless you're looking for trouble?
What Boyle did was stupid too. That's the point. I wish the league would do away with all this nonsense.
Watching a guy get suckered to the ground and then repeatedly punched while down on the ice -- it's just lame. And the "he got what was coming to him" argument just doesn't wash. Remember, Keith figured Daniel "got what was coming to him" because of the high hit Daniel put on him.
