I think it's kind of important to remember the context here. Dubinsky jumping on Carkner who has pretty much mugged a teammate. Dubi got tossed for doing what I would think every fan here of whatever team you root for would want their player(s) to do on seeing a teammate being mugged by a goon of another team.
Dubi is not a good fighter but he is willing to go and he's willing to stick up for his teammates--even take a beating for them. He's shown that in the past on a number of occasions. Yeah--at times, he's got a volcanic out of control temper which isn't easy to like if you're not a fan of his team--even so I have respect for players like this.
He got kicked out of the game for being third man in when only Carkner was given a fighting major. I'd be pissed too.
Rules are rules. And in the NHL - like here - one of the major rules is 'let the officials do their job'. He got booted for breaking the rules. Carkner was penalized for breaking the rules.
You can't arbitrarily decide to toss out the rule book. If you do - YOU get tossed instead.
So he and rangers fans should stop all the tantrums, and concentrate on putting the puck in the net.
So being emotional when being thrown out of a crucial game 2 minutes in (for rightfully defending a teamate getting cheap shotted several times) is f.....
It was just a terrible call!!! One of the worst calls I'ce seen in years.
How can he be the 3rd man in when there weren't 2 men in in the first place?! He should have just got 5 for fighting - that's it. And he really didn't fight anyway, he just kinda jumped on top to stop the sen player from hitting Boyle.
I cannot stand Dubinsky but he was in the wrong being tossed from that game and I do not blame him for being that upset. I don't even think he should have gotten a penalty at all. If anything the league should talk to that ref for just standing there and watching Boyle get pummeled like that when he was defenseless.

Who was the "2nd man in" the fight?
Is there anything "arbitrary" about knowing that Dubi was the 2nd man in? (hint for you: Did Boyle even get a penalty?? don't you need 2 people for a fight?? - that should help you realize who the 2nd man in was)
I love the reaction. If I'm a Ranger fan, I'm more concerned if he skates off as if he doesn't give a damn. He was sticking up for a teammate that was the victim of a cheap shot, and his reward? Essentially a one game suspension.
Exactly.
If he skated off defeated, I would have been worried. This was just hilarious.
- Well Sid is not a dirty player.
- He's very respectful and classy.
- Sid would never be 3rd man in, in a fight.
P.S I'm talking about Crosby of today, not 6 years ago.
You're kidding, right? Have you ever seen the bull**** Sid pulls behind the play? And did you even watch the game? Dubinsky had to jump and rip Carkner off Boyle because he was defenseless and was being pummeled. It wasn't even a two way fight, it was just Dubinsky's teammate getting his ass kicked held against the ground. Dubinsky was defending his team mate from getting seriously hurt. To call that disrespectful and not classy is absolutely ridiculous.
