At first, I thought I got it, and then on the replay, I don’t know if it was under Roberto or to the side of him. I just jammed it between his legs. Whether I hit it or not, I couldn’t tell.’’ (on getting big games from team leaders…) “I think it’s important for our top guys to lead by example. It’s the role players and the depth players who fall in behind, who make the team go. You need big performances at this time of year, and we’ve gotten big performances from top-line guys, fourth-line guys. I think it’s important for us to understand where we’re at, and hit the reset button.’’ (on good teams winning without playing their best…) “We’re up two-nothing, and that’s what we wanted coming up here. Like you said, good teams find ways to win. I think it’s important for us to really hit the reset button here, because this team [Vancouver] has dominated the regular season and the majority of the playoffs last year pretty handily. I’m sure they have faced tougher situations than being down two-nothing in a series.’’ (on the late-game scrum…) “It was just a big scrum in front. Something happened in there. We ended up getting a power play out of it. I’m not sure what happened. I was in the net. I think it’s important, if we are starting to frustrate them, to play between the whistles and try to stay away from that stuff as much as possible. Our PK has been pretty good, but if we keep giving them opportunity after opportunity on the power play, they’re going to make us pay."

There’s not a whole lot of chances out there, and when they do come, you want to bury them. (on the team’s confidence level after winning two games in Vancouver…) “Pretty confident. They’re obviously a very good team. To get two in here, it’s huge for us, but nothing is decided yet. We have to play. We have to focus and play our game for whatever it is, the next two, three, four games. We have to play our game and focus on that."

I’m sure they’re saying the same things, but we know we can put together a better full 60-minute game. Five-on-five, special teams, all those things go into it."

We’re at home right now, where we feel comfortable. We have to go in with confidence, but know that we have to play better. … I thought we turned too many pucks over last night, and gave them too many opportunities, which allowed them to play in our zone a whole lot."

"We’ve got a lot of ways to get better there. I felt like we were making too many turnovers, or getting a lot of shots blocked last game. We were giving some of their key guys, like Kesler and Sedin, too much room. When you’re giving those two guys room, they’re going to make plays and goals are going to be going in the net. So we need to make sure we’re closing faster on them and getting more pucks in deep and having more puck-possession time, because if we have the puck more than them, obviously they wouldn’t be creating the chances they were. (on the Kings’ defensive success…) “I think, from day one, this team has been a great defensive team, and we’re just trying to stick to the same thing. They’ve got a lot of speed up front. They’ve got some good shooters and a lot of talent up there. We just have to keep things simple. We don’t want to make turnovers. That’s one of the key things. If we’re making turnovers, the other team is going to come back and put some pucks in the net. I think we’ve been doing a good job with that, but we’ve still got better. Quickie, he’s been playing great in net.’’ (on the Kings’ penalty-kill success…) “I don’t even know if there’s anything specific. Our PK has been good all year, doing the same things. When we’re getting the puck, we’re making sure we’re getting (full-ice) clears. We want to get good sticks in lanes and be hard on them, not giving them a lot of room, guys like Sedin and Kesler. They’re good at making those passes, across seams. Once they get the puck, we’re trying to jump them right away and create turnovers.’’ (on the message during the second intermission…) “Darryl came in here right away, right after the period was over, and told us we had better. We gave up a goal on the first shift of the second period, and going into the third he wanted to make sure we didn’t do the same thing. We wanted to get one ourselves. He came in here and he didn’t want us to lay off the pedal. We didn’t play a good game here tonight. We’ve got a lot better, and we definitely have to show that."

Obviously he scored two shorthanded goals, and that’s significant.’’ (on the momentum built from shorthanded goals…) “Well, we scored with, what, eight seconds left (in the first period) and they came back to start the next period and scored. So, (back and forth). It was a game of special teams. I don’t think, 5-on-5, we were very impressive.’’ (on his message to the team now…) “Two hour and eight-minute flight. Get some sleep. See you at the rink at 1 tomorrow.’’ (on Jonathan Quick’s game…) “He’s a younger guy. He hasn’t had much experience. He’s no different than one of our young skaters. They’re still learning lots about it, and they’re doing a good job of it.’’ (on trying to keep the team focused going forward…) “Well, we don’t have much time between games. The way the series is, we travel and then play again, and then we have some (down) time. We try to keep a real tight handle on playing one game at a time. You very easily could be going home down two (games). You could be going home tied. There’s really not much difference. You don’t get much out of winning two games.’’ (on the confidence built from winning two games in Vancouver…) “I’d have to think that when we won 13 or 14 games, down the stretch, to get in, that we do play with confidence. We don’t really have a problem with that. It’s more staying with the game plan.’’ (on needing to improve 5-on-5 play…) “We have to play a certain style to be successful. We’re not going to trade chances with that hockey team over there, that’s for sure, and come out of it. Quite honestly, and I’m not saying this because we’re up two-nothing or because we won the game, but we didn’t really play that well. We took three bad penalties, and 5-on-5 we weren’t that strong on the walls. We didn’t do a very good job against their defense. We were a little better on faceoffs than we were in Game 1, but there were lots of areas that we can get a whole lot better at.
The bottom line is, with the way the game is played now, it’s how much you have the puck. You’re not going to dominate that part of the game, but you try, in 5-on-5, to have the puck as much as possible. With that is protecting it, or fighting for it and battling for it. It’s something that we can be a lot better at."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

The fans better be deafening. I want the 2 homers calling the game on CBC, Hughson & Simpson, having to yell so we can hear them give all the accolades to the Canucks and none to the Kings.

Staples better be rocking like it was against the Avs in 2001. That was the most electric crowd I've seen at Staples.

Bad feeling about this game. Back a lion into a corner and that ***** will bite. Hopefully we come out quickly and shut them down at least to stifle any intensity they try and use to overwhelm us.

Hi Everyone,
I have been coming to this site for the last several years yet I have never posted anything before, but felt compelled to do so today. I will be at the game tomorrow and I promise to do my part in making lots of noise. Like most of you here, I also feel that this team is special. Yeah, I have always wanted them to be special and sometimes even tried to convince myself that they were a good team in the past (love is blind). But this team feels different and I cant help but get excited. I guess I felt now was as good as any to start joining the conversation every now again as I feel like I know most of you from reading your posts all the time.....Anyway, there is only one thing left to say.....Go Kings Go....Time to bury the Nucks
