Rangers tried to act tough, and it back fired. If someone bashed Marchand like Carkner did with Boyle, there would be NO uproar about this 1 game suspension.

Tried to act tough? They led the NHL in fighting majors. Senators came out to send a message and they did. Hagelin made a dumb play but i really don't believe it was on purpose. Should he be suspended yes. Should he have gotten this many games with the precedents previously set, no.

Yes, Brian Boyle was being a complete tough guy when he administered that savage beatdown to Erik Karlsson. Everyone knows Boyle is a feared puncher who attacked poor Erik out of nowhere.
of course Schenn dove on the neal hit so he will be suspended as well
Nah, Asham got him back. That was all the fine-age Schenn should get.

pretty much sums up the last few thousand posts since the end of game 2.
rangers fan, game 1, boyle on karlsson: BOYLE IS SO AWESOME. (check their GDT for actual quotes, almost all of them completely supportive)
rangers fan, game 2:
Guys, as I posted in the NYR forum, it is what it is. Alfredsson got injured, it was a hit to the head, and it isn't the kind of hit we want to see in the NHL.
If we cannot beat the 8th seed team without Hagelin, then we don't deserve to beat them. We still have all of the major pieces intact that make us a competitive team (Richards, Gaborik, Lundqvist, McDonagh, Girardi, Del Zotto, etc.). And honestly, Hagelin is a MUCH less significant loss to the NYR than Alfredsson to OTT. We will have to manage for three games. We signed Kreider for a reason. Dubinsky will be back tomorrow. Let's see what happens.
The name of the player getting hit. I wish the NHL would just come out and admit it's a factor.
Agreed, it's ridiculous. I would be fine with Hagelin getting 5 games if that was the established, across the board, punishment for his crime (and almost nobody is disputing that he committed a suspendable offense). There needs to be a standard, if you do X then you get Y, regardless of who you hit or the outcome.
So... hyperbole for the sake of hyperbole then. That's why you brought it up?
Otherwise, what was the point?
I already walked a few other people through it hand in hand. If you want to "figure it out", go and look in the other posts in this thread about the subject. I am done repeating myself.
That was a dirty, dirty elbow by Hagelin. Good on Shanny for suspending his ass. I can understand some frustration from Rangers fans on inconsistent suspensions though.
Most of us knew he was getting suspended and rightfully so. What I'm personally upset with is the inconsistency as you mentioned. Carkner going after Boyle was pre meditated and Shanny even acknowledged in the video that he had a history. I don't see how that results in a one game suspension, I really don't. The Weber thing I already touched on earlier but that's just as ridiculous. Someone mentioned it too that the NHL usually goes by the one playoff game = two regular season games when dealing with suspensions. So that would be a six game suspension in the regular season which was worse than what Keith got and that was much worse IMO. I just want consistency and this goes league wide, not just for my team.

Really? We are the only ones? Didn't an Ottawa mod say it is two games too much? Most Ranger fans think he should be suspended, but three games is a joke, especially when Weber got nothing and that Bitz's hit was worse.

And the wittiness of your post really shows you're so much better.
My post wasn't trying to be witty. It was trying to be sarcastic. Perhaps you should learn the difference between the two before attempting to insult my intelligence. It was a nice try on your part, though.

Your logic does not belong in this thread.
I also think it's about one or two games too many, but I'm guessing my rather moderate opinion of the affair will get lost in all of the pitchforks and torches activity going on.
