Yes, just heard that.
No response from the Leafs, which enforces the rumour.

Allaire to retire?
Just mentioned on the Hot Stove on HNiC by Elliotte Friedman. Rumblings are that Allaire may retire and go back to running his goalie school full time.

I don't know why this is unfortunate news to me.
He has (had) a reputation as being the best goalie coach in the league.
I wonder what's gone wrong in Toronto.

He didn't adapt. Other teams did adapt to his goalies' styles. Bottom line.

I'm not excited nor am I disappointed to hear it.
The fact is there were no results. Best goaltending coach my *** if the goalie doesn't perform.

He probably doesn't want his name to be tarnished by this franchise.

Yes, this is one of Burke's little tricks as well.
Mentioning a supposed reputation...INSTEAD OF RESPONDING TO THE REALITY...

Who would be a good goalie coach to replace him?

I kind of feel bad for him. The fans & the media have chosen him to be the scapegoat.

I don't understand the hate towards the man. Explain to me how in New York, you have one of the best goalies in the league coached by Benoit Alliaire while in toronto Francois is the worst most un adaptable goaltending coach in the league. Give Francois talent and he will give you better results

Exactly! Gotta blame the Allaire for all those horrible goals our goalies let in that should of been saved.

Allaire is largely treading on reputation in Toronto. Burke keeps talking about how he's the best goalie coach in the world, but going by results, it's like Burke went out and bought the best mp3 player from 2002 while the rest of the league was busy enjoying the iPods.
Maybe they can bring in Felix Potvin? He's coaching somewhere in Quebec these days and he could provide a word of advice for the kids trying to handle the pressure and expectations.

Give any guy talent and they don't need to do anything to become successful.

Honestly, whatever's been going on in practice just hasn't been working. The time has come to scratch off the last season of bad memories for our goalies with a fresh input and new eye's.
