If Hagelin gets suspended after getting a major for elbowing, then the league has a serious double standard going on. He served his time in the game and that should be it. There should be no supplementary discipline for it.
FWIW, 5 of the last 6 SC champs played a 6 or 7-game series in Round 1.
Winning the Stanley Cup is a ****ing difficult accomplishment. I think sometimes Rangers fans think about '94 and the opening round sweep and assume that that's how a Cup champion should do it in the first round.
Just imagine how Bruins fans felt in the 1st round last year.
When you play like ****ing **** at the end of the game, playin not to lose, you lose. This game was ********* and they better get their heads out of their ***** for Monday.
What about the ****ed up call on throwing Dubinsky out???
Ian Walsh. No real surprise he sat there and watched Boyle get just pummeled on the ice and then tossed Dubinsky.
Honestly, his ******** is getting real old.
Compare his actions with what the officials did in the SJ/STL game. They stepped in and broke it up when one of the guys was on the ice defenseless.
pathetic showing from them tonight, and it seems like the main story coming out of the 1st round is how pathetic the officiating has been. Nice job NHL.
Disgraceful way to lose the game. Sitting back in the third killed this team.

I read their GDT after the Game 2 loss to the Habs. They wanted Julien fired, Thomas benched, Chara benched etc.
IMO Game 3 isnt even the game to worry about.
Game 4 is the big one. If the Rangers win game 4, whether it makes it 2-2 or 3-1, they'll advance.
All they need is a split in Ottawa and they are still in control, but preferable I want them to head into Game 5 off a win.

No reason not to win both games, Rangers by far seem the superior team, but they need to play 60 minutes with emotion. They have 2 days off after game 4. No back to backs in the playoffs. Also need to start burying some chances, they had a million tonight.
Missed most of the game. 2-1 when I started watching. Saw the highlights. ***** move by Carkner. We better retaliate on Monday. Will be discipline for that?

I see where you're coming from, but I think it's important for the Rangers to get the next one. Going down 2-1 while the Sens still have home ice does not bode well. Sure, it would still be completely winnable series, but I think it's important for the Rangers to follow up today's effort with a win in the next game. I do agree that Game 5 is crucial.
Bingo. The Rangers didn't play well in the least, but the Sens looked pretty crappy for most of the game, too. Horrid passing, especially. If the Rangers play their game, they beat that team 9 times out of 10.

Happens all the time, players even get suspended after the on-ice officials don't call a penalty. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hagelin suspended, but Philips go free and throw another dirty elbow on Monday.
Why did we just go into a shell in the 3rd? That's the part that bothers me the most. Ottawa didn't win. We lost.
And oh yeah, that whole Carkner/Boyle/Dubinsky situation was f***ed up on so many levels. As for Hags, I have no problem with the penalty, but if he gets suspended after Weber got away with his stunt on Zetterberg with a mere $2500 fine, then all the talk about how backwards this league is will be further justified.
Anybody have video of Hagelin's hit from the side? I have a feeling that his elbow rode up the arm of Alfredsson and then hit his head. In that case, principal point of contact is not the head. It's too hard to tell from the head-on angle which is what everybody seems to show...
I'd have to sit long and hard about putting Scott in for Monday. Let him take Neil out of the series, wouldn't matter if he's suspended. Worth it to not have to worry about our players safety. Thankfully Carkner should be done anyway. **** happens, we didn't get the breaks and we cannot sit on a lead like that. Need to take atleast one of these next two games or RIP season.
Why is everyone assuming Torts told his players to play that way?? I'm certain it was not his strategy to sit back.
Why wouldn't it be? When they were getting outplayed last game he called a timeout to get their heads out of their *****. If it wasn't part of the gameplan tonight he stands to reason he would have called a timeout again.
They also played that way at the end of game 1 and have also been doing it pretty much all season when getting a lead late in the game.
i do hope that alfreddson is alright...i have respect for him...whether or not hagelin was targeting the head on the hit, it was an unfortunate occurrance...
This is a lesson for all the people who think Dubi has little value, if you couldint see the loss the team experienced without him.
The Top line was pathetic. Ricahrds was awful. Hagelin did not play well. Gaborik was the only one with some jump. Cally didnt do much, Anisimov was one of the only ones who showed some life. I think they should throw Krieder in the lineup over Mitchell or something, shake things up. they need a boost the team does not look good.
