Few Flyer fans visiting the Ottawa board. Seems to be a lot of satisfaction with the Rangers losing tonight! Have to say I'm really enjoying the Flyers whupping on the Pens, so glad my team could return the favor.

Usually mild-mannered rookie speedster Carl Hagelin landed a hard hit on Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson along the side boards in the Ottawa end. Hagelin got his elbow up and struck Alfredsson in the head, earning a major penalty.
Alfredsson didn't return to the game.
"It's the kind of hit that needs to be looked at, and the league will do that, I'm sure," Karlsson said. "They'll get it right. He's one of our best players."
Tortorella said he didn't think Hagelin would be suspended, but added if a ban is handed down then Ottawa's Chris Phillips should also get one for elbowing Rangers captain Ryan Callahan in the final minute of the first period.
sounds like exactly the same thing. fair is fair, right?
except Callahan isn't out with a concussion, Torts
Looks like the bruins are going to try to take out holtby during their series. They just can't help themselves. I'm must have missed the memo when the NHL declared open season on goalies. For all the rep the flyers have they are by far playing cleaner than the pens and bruins. The healthiest team wins, and it looks like more than a few teams just plan to take out the other teams best players. I fear the pens will do that if we go up big in the series.
Hearing scheduled for Carkner, Hagelin but not Phillips.
Phillips didn't deseve one, in my view. I thought he did a decent job keeping his elbow tucked. Callahan was positioned a bit awkwardly, etc. I didn't necessarily think it was a penalty--but definately not a candidate for supplemental discipline.
Burns is the oversight. A bad one too.
By the way, Roman Polak is insane--in a good way. A serviceable 3rd pairing defenseman who should strike the fear of high heaven into the other team.

Agreed on all counts. Especially about Polak, I've wanted him on the Flyers ever since he came into the league. Grossmann's been great, but if he could develop more of a mean streak I wouldn't complain.
I didn't think the Carkner thing was super super bad. He was addressing an issue that happened in game 1. Yeah it was dirty but whatever. Game suspension is fine, move on.
Honestly, no offense to NJ, but I would really like to see Florida go deep and see how well they really do. They are such a combination of random players that have played well and I've enjoyed watching them.
