The Chicago/Phoenix series was the first time in 60 years that a series had the first four games go to OT.

The ones i am friends with aren't even mad.

St louis and San Jose fans seem to be very defensive (no pun intended) about talking about their series being boring

Bettman: Teams' complaints on suspensions 'gamesmanship'

Wow what complete garbage...

Gamesmanship Buttman? Really..the whole league except Pitt and Nashville is p'ode at you and your safety stooge yet you are flippantly suggesting it's all exaggerated? Que tal? This guy is completely senile..

Ok if you are such an expert at discerning gamsesmanship why did you feel a need to coddle the Pens and even apologize to them....hilarious!

Where is the fact that Kennedy and Malkin cheapshoted Grossmann to the head? Where is the game(s)? Ahole!

Quote:
NEW YORK - NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman considers those complaints from various teams about their players receiving suspensions during the post-season as nothing more than "gamesmanship."

Take the Washington Capitals' statement disagreeing with the one-game ban for centre Nicklas Backstrom.

"That doesn't mean anything. They didn't like it," Bettman said Friday. "The fact is, it was a cross-check to the face. It deserved a game."

Criticism of the league's disciplinary decisions as inconsistent is simply a matter of perspective, Bettman insisted during an Associated Press Sports Editors meeting.

Nine players were issued suspensions through the first eight days of the playoffs. Those included two games for Vancouver forward Byron Bitz for a hit to the head on the Kings' Kyle Clifford and three games for Chicago's Andrew Shaw for running over Phoenix goalie Mike Smith.

"Everybody will have a different view," Bettman said. "In Vancouver, they probably thought Bitz was being picked on and got suspended for too much. In Chicago, everybody felt that Shaw shouldn't have been suspended at all because Smith was faking."

Anyone see Legwand cover the puck in the crease... put it in his equipment and take it to the bench earlier in the Det-Nsh game?

Cannot believe the refs missed it... on the replay the ref seemed to be daydreaming or something, not even looking at a goalmouth scramble.

If I was a Detroit fan I would be going crazy!

So Torres was suspended for 25 games for a somewhat comparable hit to what Neal did to Couturier. Maybe i'm biased but that's BS.

This is insane, just ****ing insane. This really is bush league, and there's no consistency whatsoever. The only thing that was worse about Torres's hit when compared to the two Neal delivered is the outcome, but I even thought it was less malicious in intent.

Good God in heaven.

25 games? The hit was bad, but in my eyes not nearly that bad. Wow

I thought he might get about 8 max... being who he is and all.

But 25... for a hit that if delivered 0.8 seconds earlier would have been fine? Damn.

Neal hit Couts over 2 seconds late.

Intent instead of result should be what the suspension is for... he basically got 1 game for the act (if were going off the Neal one), and 24 for the injury to Hossa then, which is just down to bad luck.

Neal wasn't suspended for the hit on Couturier though.

The disparity between the Neal suspension and Torres suspension is alarming.

If Neal gets one game, Torres should have received 5 or less. Hell, Neal wasn't even suspended for the hit on Couturier.

If the Torres hit really warrants 25 games in the opinion of the NHL, then Neal should have received at least 5 games for the hit on Couturier.

I don't know what the right amount of games should have been for each guy, but a 24 game difference is unbelievable.

This is 4th headshot/supsendable hit by Torres in less then 12 months

Pretty different IMO

Neal deserved more but Torres has been a danger on ice to everyone in opposing jersey for some time

Last year at end of season he intentionally elbowed Eberle in head (4 games)
1st game back nailed Seabrook (Somehow no suspsension)
This year vs Wild left his feet and targeted head of Wild player (2 games)

Now Hossa hit

NHL has screwed up alot (Neal lack of suspensions one of them) but IMO this is a great ruling by NHL

Torres continues to show disregard for headshot rules and opposing players in general

Finally seeing a player taken off on stretcher clearly opened the eyes of NHL that Torres doesn't get it

Also the video that Shanahan put together IMO is pretty much dead on

He shows that Torres continues to target players heads with disragerd for rules/health of opposing players

The NHL is, and has been for a long time, a joke when it comes to handing out suspensions.

Torres is in Matt Cooke territory though. I can imagine that they've been telling him with no uncertain words, that they'd lay down the law on him if he'd do anything stupid again.

Thomas pulled a Bryz. I feel better about myself now

Also, no Wolski for FLA tonight, healthy scratch. Must be a rough year for him, I know he's got the talent.

Mark Stone begins his NHL career pretty much immediately getting an assist, as a 19-year old in the playoffs. Pretty decent development curve on that 6th rounder.

It's not impossible that the second round in the east will be between teams 5-8. That would be awesome. Edit: Devils PK sucks right now though. Such a turnaround from the regular season.
