I think it is ridiculous that the CBC has an analyst commenting on the game and it is evident that the guy hates Ottawa. He goes to great lengths to show off situations where Ottawa could have got a penalty and then dismisses stuff the rangers are doing. The play where Spezza went up in the air and landed on his back he called a big hit. The replay showed Spezza tripping over the other guy's leg and arguably should have been a tripping penalty. I just can't stand him. Galley even cut him off a few times. And he made an a$$ of himself on the hot stove too.
I thought he was much better in game 2 then game 1, but even the FAN590 in Toronto was making fun of how biased he was in game 1 so that tells you something.
He's also played for the Rangers and is by far the most negative sports personality on hockey. That's before even considering his major bias.
Healy is the worst. He was indeed better in Game 2, but I'm just happy Galley is there to bring some logic and common sense between Cole and Healy. The best was when Galley and Dean were doing the games on a regular basis on Sportsnet back in the day.
That hot stove was just a mess. It sounded like McLean really had it out for him though.
Leafs fan here...Healy is the worst, no doubt. He was with the NHLPA for a short time, but he resigned when they brought in Fehr. So he hates them.
He also played for the Leafs, so he hates the Sens.
But he also hates the Leafs, cause they're not as good as when he played there (just tune in any Saturday night, it's unlistenable!)
...but he likes the Rangers, since his Cup win with them in '94.
Bottom line, he's terrible for any broadcast. Always Mr. Negative, for no reason. I usually just turn the centre channel off.
I agree, I dislike Healy as well. The guy is negative all the time and a big time stooge.

Exhibit A as to how hockey doesn't matter on ESPN:
Last night an ESPN program was discussing how the Detroit Pistons needed a hero citing the heroes on the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and no mention of the Detroit Red Wings. All this despite the Red Wings probably being the most succesful team in Detroit right now.
i don't know why cbc insists on putting him on our broadcast. we all hate the guy and its clear its mutual. i thought his comments to eric francis in the second intermission hotstove were ridiculous and unprofessional.
"congrats eric on talking about jerome iginla for the 42nd week in a row. you've bored me to tears again"
what a pi$$y little beatch. just totally uncalled for.

Saw that. Pretty sad when you can't even respect your fellow co-workers.
Don't really understand why we have a whole thread devoted to this pointless turd of a human being.

I agree, he did something similar during the playoff preview if I recall. I'm surprised his co-workers haven't strung him up yet; if he's a great guy to be around off the camera, he sure hasn't shown it.
I have seen people defend Mark Lee, plenty of people have said they like Cassie Campbell or Kevin Weekes (all three get their share of criticism) but I can never remember anyone saying they really like Healy on HNiC.
It's a competitive category, but he's the worst media personality in the sport IMO. If only the PA would take him back.
And while we can't address everything he says, can we all agree that his attempt to call Karlsson for slew footing was baseless. Karlsson clearly never kicked out Stepan's leg, they just spun around and Stepan fell over it. That isn't slew footing, despite Healy's attempt to make it into an issue.

he never even played a full game of playoff hockey that year the rangers won... how does a guy who was a sub-par backup, who managed to only winning seasons despite playing for some good teams, get to be on the CBC with the likes of legends like Don Cherry, Millbury, Cole.... hehehehe
Agree he is horrible and was again last night. CBC must have trouble finding competent analysts because there are a number of these guys. At least milbury is gone.
Healey is trollin'. Just like Janneraett, Jackson & Dornhoeffer, Bowen & Millen, Steigerwald, and all the other homer play by play / colour commentators in the league.

It's not often Sens and Leafs fans agree on anything, but at least we can unite on our hatred of this wretched waste of skin. I used to be bothered by all the blatantly biased verbal diarrhea he spouts, but now I just ignore him. I just try to remember how ignorant of a turd he is, how his opinion means jack, and realize that the fact that he hates the Sens means that we are doing things the right way. I'm sure he's just jealous that he never made any impact in the league, and that every player on our roster is worth far more than he ever was. I can't speak for the Leafs HNIC broadcasts, as I only get them when the Sens aren't playing on Saturday, but if you say he's the same on their games, then I certainly beleive it.
I'd rather listen to the Rangers' broadcast. Might be a little less biased.
This is the first time I've actually had to mute a playoff series. Both games, I've gotten so fed up with Healy's ranting and raving I couldn't listen anymore.
