Is History Going to Repeat Itself.....?

I am old enough to have seen the Oilers of the eighties...........Gretzky, Messier, Kurri and Anderson................

Project past June 22, 2012 and the Oilers draft Yakupov...........what do we have?

...............A play making center....tall, skinny kid?..........RNH......!

...............A fast, left winger with talk of converting to center..........Taylor Hall.....!

...............A shooter from overseas...................Nail Yakupov.........!

...............A right winger with dazzling skills...........Jordan Eberle.......!

Is history going to repeat itself or am I hallucinating..........?

Dreaming, I always dreaming......hopping, someday I'll find...........?

Just a thought...!!!

Even if it was close I don't see any Coffey or Fuhr comparables.

Yakupov = Kurri because they're both foreign?

Bunz = Fuhr

Four letter names with a U in them. The evidence is undeniable.

With this management and ownership, I fully expect history to repeat itself. Just like it has the last couple of years.

Today, in the Journal, from Matheson:

“You can never have enough puck-movers,” said Edmonton Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini.

That's why he traded Gilbert .

We have Whitney. He can move the puck.

He pivots likes he's a toddler on bob skates, but he can pass the puck. Thankfully, mobility in an NHL d-man isn't really necessary. Gilbert was totally expendable.

Amirite?

The "u" is the second letter, which is the power letter from which the player's draw their strength from.

We need to sign not only Weber but Suter as well to have the 80's dynasty happen again.

Yes. I'd like to see him try those double wide blades toddlers use too.

In all seriousness, if he could just return to his pre-injury form, at least one of our questions on the blueline would be answered.

And that is the rub. Due to the steals later in early drafts. Oilers were able to get coffey and fuhr in the first. That is one reason I have been yelling now about proper development of the kids we draft outside of thei first round

not even close.

Unless hall, rnh, yakupov AND eberle go to the hall of fame.

In this case, we need an entire d-corp and goalie.

So yeah....there's a reason we are 29th overall

Too many elipses. My eyes hurt.

I don't think it's at all similar but it is comparable, and if we pick up this Schultz kid, there is your high octane puck mover.

Christ though, the media, especially media from elsewhere, is going to be a pain in the ass about the comparisons though.

Pshh.

You say that like there's a difference between a 29th overall team and one of the best dynasties in NHL history.
