Wouldn't go that far. It could mean 55 is back in.

Yeah I take that as Schultz and Wideman in, not Erskine and Orlov.

Gonchar unfairly blamed on that......Linden, who was along the boards as I recall, throws it to Gonchar in the middle of the ice, with players in position to pressure him. The play to make was chipping it up the boards.....Linden but a young Gonchar in a very bad spot.....and while he did fumble with the puck a little its fair to say he never should have been passed to on that play

This board's favorite whipping boy Acoin is almost at the bottom of the list and the dude still gets the hate. Is Halpy coming in for him for that amount of TOI really going to do much? I don't think so.
Halpy>Aucoin in the dot
Aucoin>Halpy in not finishing
Aucoin>Halpy in stick length
Halpy>Aucoin in NHL and Playoff experience

Aucoin has been given the opportunity in 6 games, what does he have to show for it. Time to give Halpern an opportunity, would it really have a negative impact on the Capitals team by having Halpy in and Aucoin out (that's a rhetorical question btw).

But the reality is that "change" is not in DH's DNA, just look at his wardrobe choice.

this just means we're rolling 8 defensemen, and scratching BOTH Knuble AND Aucoin. Double-shifting Ovechkin and Backstrom.

8-19-21
20-90-28
8-19-42
25-83-26

Dale Hunter, expect the unexpectable.

Schultz and Erskine will be the PP1 point men and get the full two minutes. But it's Knuble and Ward who are scratched; Aucoin's net presence is needed.

I cant believe Sarge is back in. My lord is he going to be playing scared. I would rather have Orlov over the vastly more experienced Sarge. All our rookie dmen have done just fine in their playoff debut - living off adrenaline, good players, whatever it was; it has worked over the years. Can anyone remember a single first game blunder from any?

Well, except probably Sarge of course.

Wideman must have narc'd again, Checks in the... errr it was Erskine's fault.

If they were thinking about sitting erskine they should have sat him in game 6 now that its obvious since game 4 that the directive was issued to players to stop the fisticuffs. And tested Orlov with the game in hand.

on the positive side 6 being with 55 might indicate a cut in toi for wideman. i wont even consider schultz being promoted from popcorn to 1st pair.

More questionable personnel decisions ..ugghhh

Hopefully it will mean that the 3rd pair will get minimal ice time.

maybe Schultz is a decoy to get boston off their game. Every one on the Bs must be licking their chops for a chance to get out against him.

That depends on who the 3rd pair is. If Wideman is in the 3rd pair, that's good. If it is Green paired with Schultz, that's bad.

I do have a feeling Wideman and Sarge will have their TOI limited. Wideman had 15 TOI in one game, so there is some recognition, if only in one game. I have a hard time Dale missing Wideman hiding in the net at the end of the game.

I am prepared for "Slapass" Aucoin to be a staple on PP1, all plays run through him. If Dale is going to hang his old Joffa on him over true studs like Semin or Brouwer, he has to come through. There is no way around it.

It seems certain its Wideman.

Hopefully Hunter realizes that Dennis is just flat "cold" right now and doesn't force him into tough situations.

Agreed. And lets hope Dale's hunches about Aucoin are on par with how his faith in Beagle panned out. Aucoin just has to come thru plain and simple.

I get the feeling DH is gonna limit Wideman and Schultz.

I've always missed him. He played well in the playoffs. Definitely brings more than Schultz.

Yeah, but 6-55 is probably leading the NHL in -/60. They'll find a way to get their minuses, don't worry.

Let's see if Boston does the decent thing and counters with Joe Corvo.
