It will be interesting to see if the Flyers go after Neal and others for supposed dirty hits or if they realise that they were trolling the refs by staying down and not bother. If they do come after us, I would prefer if we let them take instigators and extra penalties for starting stuff. It might be a way of letting them get off their own game by trying to get us off of ours.
I doubt they will goon it up when they're up 3-0 in the series and have the rest of the playoffs to play.
I really don't see the overreaction about Neal's hits towards Courtier / Giroux. You can't definitively say there was intent to injure there. Giroux had the puck and he was busy admiring his pass. The way the current rulebook is written, that is a perfectly legal play right there.
Grossman's hit on Neal was much worse than both of those incidents - that was a direct intent to injure. You can't really say the same about Neal's hits.
for does with a DVR, you can slow it down frame by frame and see its not a headshot
neal's left arm contacts G's side and his right arm hits him in the upper back. at the top and middle of the shoulder blades as giroux tries to turn away from the hit
Thought for sure this team would come out more disciplined on the road and either win or lose a 2-1 game. What can you do?
As far as the other stuff, Jesus that's playoff hockey. Why do so many people get upset or "embarrassed" by it? Did anyone catch the Ott-Rags game?
Sometimes it is like half the people on this site never saw hockey before this season, judging by all of the whining over the rough stuff.
Crosby is edgy and dirty at times... So? Messier made Crosby look like a perennial Lady Bing nominee and last time I checked he is widely acknowledged as the best leader in NHL history.
No reason to breakdown the game.... It is what it is and it as been an issue for two months now.
In a game where he decided to bench Vitale, showing again he has an idiotic theory about how he treats rookies... I admit I was laughing at how another Flyer rookie schooled his vets, when Read scored two pivotal goals.... 3 games in a row it has happened now and I bet DB still hasn't had a light go off yet.
Neal's hit on Couturier was completely clean but maybe a second late. Watch the replay. He does get one skate off the ice at the point of impact (normal) but his arms are in and the principal point of contact is the chest area. The Giroux hit was worse but not intentional (I think he decided at the last second to throw a hit; it was definitely a charge and possibly high from the angle below), but not suspendable IMO unless there's another angle that shows it better. Asham's hit-and-swing was crap and he deserves whatever he gets from the league IMO.
Except for the little part that the puck was nowhere near couturier.
I have been a huge Crosby hater forever but boy did that change today.
Crosby really man'd up in so many ways, here is a list:
-Starting with perhaps my fav moment, when Crosby and Schenn were holding each other I read his lips and he said "You wanna go?" to Schenn, I could not see what Schenn said but after he got a reply Crosby said "What a ****ing *****". Leads me to beleive that Schenn declined.
Crosby was game and ready to go with a guy who is definitely more rugged, to me anyway, and had that eye of the tiger look and then Schenn doesnt oblige. Any Flyer that calls him a pansy should take a look at that and realize they had their chance and he came accross looking way better than any Flyer.
-The grabbing of Hartnell, he was chirping him and then backed it up.
-Post game interview, some true emotion and not blaming anyone or ref, just telling it like it is and saying he is gonna handle it his own way, not looking to make friends. Boy was that awesome.
All in all he had a great game, its too bad there were so many undisciplined penalties but man did I convert based on solely this game. I hope he stays this badass!!!
i dont think he had any attention of going with shenn
I've never seen Crosby like that in an interview. Just completely politically incorrect. It's important that he controls his emotions and puts his energy in to the right cause which is winning game 4. Nonetheless, it's refreshing to see that this is REALLY bothering him. At least we know our captain will do anything it takes to win.
TSN's panel said Crosby needs to be more like Toews last year.
I like Sid like this, no more generic interviews, he's showing emotion.
Yep, cause Toews led the Blackhawks to a one-and-done playoff appearance last year. I hope Towes/Stamkos is positioned as the new face of the league. Probably Stamkos cause nothing the NHL likes more than good ol' Ontario boys that missed the playoffs 3 of the 4 years he's been in the league. They probably get hard-ons thinking of ways to extricate him from that southern hellhole that doesn't appreciate him like we would.
No amount of leadership is going to stop that terrible first goal or make Martin clear the puck on PK with authority.
