Something positive....well, my kneecap is most of the way back to where it usually is after I dislocated it badly yesterday.
Wait, you mean something positive about the Penguins? I got nothing. There is nothing. If you lose three games in a row with a -8 goal differential against a lower-seeded rival team, you just don't give a ****. There are no two ways about it. And I care too much about Penguins hockey to say anything nice about a Penguins team that doesn't care.
We are going to win this series. Unlike most series in which your team is down 3-0, this Penguins team this year is actually good enough to win 4 straight against the Flyers. We aren't down because we're not good enough to win. We're down because we've been too focused on showing the Flyers that we aren't afraid of them and that we can match their physicality that we've let it take us out of these games.
We only need to put that behind us and maintain our composure the rest of the way. Every win will put the pressure on Philly and take it off of us. If we can win 2, that will take their composure away and give us the upper hand. If they start being the undisciplined team, then we've got a great chance.
The only thing I am sorry about is seeing how many Pens fans have thrown our team into the fire, said everyone sucks, fire everyone, total overhaul in the offseason, get rid of Malkin, get rid of Bylsma, get rid of everyone, etc.
Did any of you ever consider for a minute that maybe the Flyers have just been the better team for this series? Maybe they aren't better on paper. Maybe we have the more talented roster. But, at the end of the day, they have been doing EXACTLY what it takes to win against us. Yes, Laviolette has outcoached Bylsma. Bryzgalov has outmatched Fleury. Giroux has outscored Crosby or Malkin. But, all credit to them aside, we can still win this series because we still have the better team, at least in my opinion. Until you're shaking hands, it is never too late to realize that and take this series over.
Seeing Matt Cooke shake his head after the shenanigans really showed me something. With everything he's been through, the man just wants to play the game of hockey. That was a bittersweet bright spot for me.
We're going to win the series 4-3. Book it. We'll win on Wednesday 4-3. Followed by a game 5 3-2 win.
Games 6 & 7 will be 5-3 and 3-2 in our favour.
As I was trying to fall asleep last night I had the same thoughts. We need to play one period at a time, take game 4 and get back to the CEC. Win there and then the pressure goes back on Philly. I mean we are all but written off at this point, no more SC favorite tag or anything. Stay out of the post-whistle crap, and just go play hockey. Have faith boys, if any team can do it this one can.
