What would you do with Luke Schenn?

Knowing that Schenn struggled mightily at times and for extended periods this season, that Underhill is being brought in as a power skating consultant and that Carlyle will be pushing this team in a more defensively responsible direction, what do you do with former 5th overall and once acclaimed "future captain" Luke Schenn?

I keep him, because I think he's well on his way to being one of the elite shut-down defensemen in the League.

Keep him AINEC. He wasn't even that bad this season and he's 22 ffs.

If we trade him now we will regret it.

He's gonna need to improve his skating if he wants to become one of the better shutdown Defenders in the league.

Trade but only for a dynamic top forward prospect (use to trade up to 1st overall) or a solid big forward (Staal). If he isn't enough to get either, keep him, I am more then happy to have him on the Leafs.

Have patience. Doughty was three spots ahead of Schenn and he really hasn't solidified himself as future HOF that everyone labelled him as(however he has played better since JJ was traded). So lets see if BU can rectify this kids (remember guys he's only 22) skating style a la Boyle. If that does happen could you imagine what he could be? Not Stevens but I'll take Rob Blake lite.

Schenn will more likely top out like a Komisarek.
I hope I'm wrong.

Keep him definitely. Get him to drop 10 to 15 pounds over the Summer and see Underhill extensively. He should be fine under the new coaching if he regains his mobility and confidence. Looking forward to him hopefully shutting some people up next year.

Perfectly willing to keep him, and I think he could bounce back career wise. Only reason I would be willing to trade him, is that defense is an organizational strength, and Holzer coming up the ranks makes Schenn more expendable. If we were to gain a strong top 6 player forward in return I would consider trading him. No sense in trading him for the sake of trading him or for quantity.

Keep knowing the offers for him would be fairly underwhelming.

A year ago today he had a very strong season and signed a 5 year extension. No reason to believe he can't return to that form, if not better.

Trade for JVR. If he struggles this season, he wears the goat horns, as poor ole Bobby Lou is doing presently. His value is still pretty high, but if he takes another backward step, he's going to be considered a bust. It wouldn't surprise if he's tired of the ***** show that is TOR and REQUESTS a deal to PHI at this point.

JVR is in a similar situation to Schenn, in that he's a talented guy in need of a new start as he's been edged out in PHI due to injury.

Straight trade. Schenn for JVR, everyone wins, everyones happy...

Well Schenn has already passed Komi's career high in points twice. Has a lot more upside than Komisarek IMO.

Keep him. His breakout passes this year were better than most of our DMAN. If he loses a bit of weight and works on his skating, he'll be what we wanted him to be.

I would like to see how he fits into Carlyle's system before shipping him off.

Two guys in similar situations, I take the one that isnt Tin Man part 2.

How quickly people forget that Schenn was our best dman last season. Give him a year under Carlyle.

Keep him. His value is low right now.

He will improve under Carlyle and a defensive system. All he needs to work on is foot speed. If he does that he won't be caught out of position and he can go back to being a rock on defense.
