So much for Nashville owning Phoenix.

Exactly. The Blues, Coyotes, Kings, and Predators are all for real. Lundqvist > Quick!?! Stamkos > Datsyuk!?! The East Coast bias in the Hart Finalists is a joke. Karlsson's points alone make a him a probable Norris Trophy winner over Chara and Weber!?! I'd take Datsyuk and Lidstrom and the Wings' record setting win streak over Stamkos and Karlsson. I don't take the trophies seriously anymore. A trophy does not make you great. Carlyle was average offensively and Meagher was not great.

I asked this in the main board and got no answer. Is there evidence that more members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association cover Eastern teams than Western teams?

Spezza is very good as a top forward in the context of today's NHL. He and Karlsson had great chemistry together this year.

But when you compare him to the forwards other great offensive defencemen have had, he doesn't match up to Esposito, Trottier/Bossy, Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Ovechkin, etc.

Exactly. The Preds dominated the majority of the play.

The home team jumped out early with energy, the middle frame was about even, but the 3rd period was all Nashville ("every quality scoring chance" was the Preds according to the play by play announcer) and overtime was all Nashville until Hanzal won a face off and passed to a successful shot by Whitney.

And today, the Rangers had a season-low 15 shots and yet scored 3 in a win against the third-string goalie of the Caps. A team can do A LOT right and still lose when one or two players make mistakes at key times (Mike Green was coming off the ice when the Rangers had possession, realized his mistake and was too late in backchecking on the game winning goal), especially in one game only. Over a seven game series, the odds are against the lucky underperformers.

No way was Datsyuk even 5 for the Hart, and Lidstrom missed too much time for him to be a Norris finalist, when he's no longer the leagues best defenseman.

Hart should have been:

Winner - Malkin

Finalists - Giroux/Quick

4/5 - Lundqvist/Stamkos

I would have given the Hart to Quick, myself.

"The Nashville Predators have suspended forwards Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn for Game 3 on Wednesday night against the Phoenix Coyotes for violating team rules."

"New Jersey Devils forward Ilya Kovalchuk will miss Tuesday's Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Philadelphia Flyers with an undisclosed injury."

Wonder what that means, I think it might have something to do with a curfew set by the team.

Who really knows what happened.. what I do know, is that it was incredibly stupid for TSN to put up this article: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=394755

We, as fans, have absolutely no idea what they were suspended for. How the hell can you make an informed, unbiased opinion without knowing all the facts?

you can't, really. The question should be, "knowing what you know, which is practically nothing, DO YOU AGREE WITH THE PREDATORS' SUSPENSIONS?"

For the record: Andrei Kostitsyn was NOT one of the team's top-6 forwards. He had his butt on the third line since his fourth gamne as a Predator except for two games when there were injuries.

Both players were late season acquisitions and really not core players. Cut the cancer out and return to Smashville hockey!

"The Montreal Canadiens have selected Chicago Blackhawks assistant GM Marc Bergevin as their new general manager"

If OV plays less than 14 minutes a game, can he make it past the 2nd round for the first time ever?

Geez.. I wonder if the Rangers like McDonagh? 48:02 after 5 periods! Marc Staal, the next highest player in ice time, is nearly 5 and a half minutes behind, and the next guy, Girardi, is over 9 minutes behind!

I was going to post this before the game. I didn't know if the Preds would win, but I knew they'd play better after the suspensions. It always boosted my morale when guys who partied the night before a playoff game got sat down.
