Toews and Kane, but not Suter and Weber?

I think just about everyone would take the latter if giver the choice.

Agreed. I'd take Hossa and Keith over Suter in the ATD though.

His play this series has made me to value Suter over Keith. I take Hossa over them both tho.

I won't consider anyone in nashville a franchise player when you don't even know if they are going to stay there and there's always rumors of them leaving. And Ryan Suter is definitely not a franchise player. You don't choose Ryan Suter and then decide ''oh great this is my player , I'm going to built a round him''.

Either way , those choosing Weber and Suter over Kane and Toews would be wrong. You can always put this post in your favorite and come back at me in a couple of years , we'll see.I think this is madness.Of course right now they are better this year , but things change quickly.

Ryan Suter is probably the best defenseman in the NHL to play beside an elite #1. I don't think there's anyone in the NHL I would take over him in that role, because he's so good at complimenting an elite partner. However, I don't think he would do well as the #1 of a team.. at least, not to the tune of how overhyped he is. I think Weber does a lot for Suter to make him look as good as he does.

Ryan Suter is having a Brad McCrimmon-like career thus far. We'll see where he goes from here.

Did anyone actually watch the Preds - Wings series? Weber was mean sure but it was Suter who kept that defense together.

Sure.. if he can do it for 10 more years, I'll be convinced.

Weber is the team's undisputed #1, and has already shown what he can do in that role.

It's disputed if he really is the #1. I'll say Suter has looked better than him all season.

I agree with jarek. I think Suter is awesome next to a dynamic guy like Weber, but would e unspectacular as a team's #1

I heard someone say the same thing about a future 7 time Norris winner. Not saying he will develop that far but he's progressing well while being better than his partner most of this season including this playoff series.

Lidstrom was already good offensively even before his norris years

Nice to see Torres got 25 games.

Now if they can consistently hand out suspensions like that, maybe this crap will clean up.

They won't though.. they are completely inconsistent.

Weber gets nothing for doing a wrestling turnbuckle headsmash, Neal gets a game.. Keith got 5 for a blatant elbow.. sigh.. turning me off watching honestly.

I'd take Weber for his professional wrestling moves alone

I'd like to see a new rule where suspensions earned in the playoffs are for playoff games only...so let's say the yotes finish off the hawks then end up losing in the next round, and torres misses about 10 games total, he gets to start the regular season normally next year, but when the post season comes he has to miss the first 15 games...if they don't play that many then it carries over to the next year and so on. I think this would really deter players from doing stupid things in the playoffs.

what is this suppose to mean?

He compared Ryan Suter to pre-norris Nick Lidstrom and I responded by saying Lidstrom was better offensively which is true considering Suter is pretty average in that department.

It's great that Torres got 25, but I have no idea how the league can justify giving that to a hit that was 1 second late I've heard 0.9, but whatever), along with a charge and a high hit. Those three plays alone are two minute penalties. By normal standards, that's a 3-4 game suspension. Torres is a repeat offender to the max, so let's call it 6-8 even. Hossa was carried off on a stretcher, so for the sake of optics, make it 10. However, smashing another players head into the glass got zero. Nothing. Elbowing a player square in the face and causing a concussion. 5.

Looking at the other mega long suspensions, you have Chris Simon and Jesse Boulerice. Goons. Even Bertuzzi didn't get 25. Because he was a star?

The NHL hasn't proved **** with this suspension. Other than they're willing to scapegoat a non-star player in order to ensure that the Weber's and the Keith's of the league can feel like they're gonna be held accountable. Right.

Definitely. I agree. He's like Weber's Seabrook...only a little better.

Depends on who his #2 dman would be. Suter being the #1 on a lot of teams wouldn't work. But pair him with someone like Subban or Pitkanen and that could be one hell of a top pairing. Not as good as what he has right now with Weber of course, but yeah.
