Carkner can use one of those from Scott. Wouldnt feel bad in that case. Sucks for Hossa though, maybe Marcel can fill right in.

Good job, NHL. Seems like those suspensions are really acting as deterrents, when you have repeat offenders like Neal, Torres, etc., pulling dirty crap in the playoffs.

It's a total joke. No respect amongst players, and the league either has no clue what to do about it or no balls to do what is necessary to clean up the game. They are no closer to reducing headshots than they were a year ago.

If they really wanted to send a message, repeat offenders would get hit with lengthy suspensions. If a hit like that happens once, fine it may of been unintentional (see Hagelin who's not a dirty player). But when you have the same guys pulling the same **** over and over, you gotta throw the book at them whether it's fair or unfair. Which is why I'm pissed Carkner only got a game because he fits right into that category. This is the NHL's own fault, they let it continue.

The Coyotes got a PP out of the Torres hit/scrum as well

The refs in this Yotes/Hawks series have been joke

Missed too many men infront of officials = Goal for Yotes in game 1
Game 2 = Shaw penalty and Toews penalty (Smith lunged into Toews) lead to Yotes goals
Tonight = Torres kills Hossa , No penalty on Yotes (PP infact)

Shanny is really dropping the ball on this one. The suspensions have become more of a joke than anything. I can see guys drawing straws on who takes the $2500 fine to take out another player.

Agree. The league is run like a joke and the method of handling disciplinary action is laughable.
Torres is a filthy player who needs to be sat out for the remainder of the playoffs.

exactly, throughout the league for the past number of years the officiating has got progressively worse and more and more inconsistent. now its showing up in the playoffs more then ever. to me its alarming as teams havent even played a game 5 of the first round, 'the best has yet to come' lol. the nhl is just sending the message- OPEN SEASON!

The best thing was he wanted goaltender interference called on Versteeg for standing next to Hedberg on the GWG. He said they do nothing to protect the goalies anymore. Later in the period on the disallowed goal for NJ, he said the player got bumped into the goalie and that they should have allowed the goal. Talk about being a homer.

Neal will get a fine. There's no doubt in my mind. Star player on Bettman's team facing elimination. There's no doubt in my mind Shanny is doing everything in his power to rationalize not giving Neal a suspension.

Agreed. It seems like Matt Cooke may FINALLY have gotten the message after his 10 game suspension + 1st round of playoffs. The paltry 2 game suspensions for head shots weren't cutting it.

I think for repeat offenders who have been suspended more than once for head shots, the suspension should be 10 games at the very least. These players have to realize that they won't have a career in the NHL much longer if they keep on targeting the head.

It would be nice if the teams policed themselves as well. If Shanny and the league aren't getting the job done, then the teams should suspend their own player. That will never happen, though.

Torres is a massive repeat offender, and he left his feet.

I had high hopes for Shanny when he first took over. The wild inconsistencies in the penalties doled out have really turned the whole process into a joke (again).

That Torres play was terrible. Launching yourself into the air to go directly after a guy's head. Just dirty. He needs to be suspended for the rest of the playoffs, and a set amount next year. He's a repeat offender and that was disgusting.

wow that does not sound good at all. at this point it would seem to be something spinal related? my prayers are with marian for a full and speedy recovery. hockey is secondary to his quality of life

just by hearing that alone torres should not see another playoff game this year at minimum. damn pig.
